At this point I would be more surprised if he IS cut. Kyle should of cut him a long time ago, but it seems like he is like Michael Scott from the Office when he needs to fire someone.

Kyle's language changed though. "Looking into" is enough for me. Before that, they would say they are 100% behind the guy, like they usually do. One where it was more obvious, was Wilks. Shanny was pretty vocal about his frustrations with him.

Seriously would anyone pick him up? Cut him and add him back to the practice squad if you like him. Maybe he gets better
But we need a better kicker now.

What free agent kicker does everyone prefer?

To put in perspective how dreadful this is, here is 2024 league average accuracy at each distance:
— Danny G (@DannyG_49) September 8, 2025
20-29: 97%
30-39: 95%
40-49: 77%
50+: 70%
This is AVERAGE. A good kicker is way better than this.
Moody is an extreme outlier right now, and not in a good way.

So here's a tale:
A few years ago there was a cornerback who gave up almost 100% of passes thrown at him. He was slow, bit on basic moves, but he always showed up and kept trying his best. He could tackle but his cover skills were borderline horrible. Kyle wanted to cut him, but he was a good dude, and Kyle thought one day he would turn into a shut down corner. Let's call him Dontae and give him a common last name like Johnson. No one else saw what Kyle saw in Dontae, not even Dontae, and the Webzone was tormented for years at the loyalty Kyle showed him. I think it was a special teams tackle that ended his time with us. But he was Kyle's secret project.
Jake is the new Dontae, a different jaw line, paler complexion, more facial hair, but Kyle thinks maybe, just maybe Jake is going to prove everyone wrong. It will probably take a special teams injury to close the chapter on this story.
Shanahan needs to be fired from personnel decisions. So many wasted picks and guys over drafted.
What about all the mid to late round picks that became starters? Does he get credit for them? It's not like they wewre drafdtingf in the top 10 or even15 every year. Late 1st round picks are far less likely to succeed than the early picks. The talent starts to drop off after the first few players.
No he doesn't get credit for the mid and late round picks.
There was an article a few years ago I think by Kawakami that Lynch makes the 1st round and second day picks with Kyles approval. The scouts make the 3rd day picks, that's why there's stories about individual scouts lobbying for people like Brock Purdy, or those RBs picked in the 5th round.

Koo with the Falcons has had a rough week missing his last kick to tie their game.
How about a kicker swap with ATL? At least if you look at his stats he's been solid for years and has a 50+yd leg that Kyle wants.

Which was even more stupid when you add the fact that BOTH of the replacement kickers went perfect in his absence.
That said; what's his excuse now?

Teams will look at how he was kicking before the injury and base their decision on that, not what he has done since. If I'm a GM, I consider a change of scenes will turn him back to what he was in college and pre-injury. It is still too early in the season for any team to make a move to replace the guy they chose to start the season...except the possibility of the 49ers.

Actually they might cut Koo ! Bring him in if they do. He's 100% on XPs and. 86% career. His pro bowl year he was 98% with some bombs.
That's how most teams deal with missed kicks.
