2022 Center - Vet Upgrades?

JC Tretter is the popular name floating around at the moment. The only downside I've heard is cost and his health. I read one account that he didn't practice last year to rest his knees?

What are the other options?

Are there veteran OC the Niners could trade for? Or, potential roster cuts when teams have to get down to 53?

I think Tretter is by far the best one available. If we do decide to go after another FA besides him, maybe Nick Martin?
Billy Price is available. First round pick by Cincinnati in 2018. He hasn't lived up to expectations but he did play the whole season for the Giants last year. Wouldn't mind bringing him in.

Denver drafted Luke Wattenberg and already had Lloyd Cushenberry and also have Quinn Meinerz. Maybe Lynch can give his buddy Elway a call and see if a deal can be made for someone.

Denver does have a lot of young depth at OC.
I don't expect them to sign anybody

All of those guys could be brought in, however, they will all take some cap space and none are guaranteed to be big improvements over Brendell.

He is a top ten athletic RAS guy all time for a Center so that could translate a little. However, I would rather have JC Tretter

JC Tretter - Doesn't practice, so would be tough for a guy like Lance who won't get (m)any reps with him.
Billy Price - 1st Round Bust in Cincy, from what I've read from Giants fans they were happy to move on from him
Nick Martin - I remember being decent in Houston, healthy scratch all last year with the Raiders
Matt Skura - Played a good amount of football the last 4 years with the Giants and Ravens. Wonder if he is a fit?
Matt Paradis - Has played a lot in his career, he's 33 and not sure how well he played in recent years in Carolina.

Tretter if he was more healthy would be choice number 1, otherwise Nick Martin could be worth a look?

Even if Tretter doesn't practice like last year on the Browns, he still will be a go come game day and be very good in pass pro which we need badly with an inexperienced qb. He been in similar systems so he wouldn't need the time like other centers to learn the offense. Then again, who am I fooling. If he was a Niner he would miss games like everyone else.

Ended up doing a video and a break down of the main free agents available at Center

Maybe Billy Price? Maybe we can turn his career around like Laken Tomlinson
Anybody to challenge Brendel,
do NOT just hand him the job!!

No one is handing Brendel the job, if you bring in a Tretter he's the starter, he ain't signing anywhere where he won't start IMO.
