Backup QB Options-Who do you want backing up Trey Lance?

One thing we've learned under Shanahan is that when the starter goes down there better be a good alternative. He tried drafting a backup with disastrous consequences. Mariota will have options and may want to get a starting gig again. Would his inclusion affect Lance, probably, To quote a Ringo Starr tune, "it don't come easy".

For the most part, teams usually struggle if they have to turn to their backup QB for a lot of games. But ya, we do need a decent backup this time. Mullens and CJ were a huge drop off from Jimmy.

There's a lot of good names on that list that would make solid backups.

Matt Ryan's cap hit in 2022 is $48 million dollars. If you are going to armchair GM, look these things up when proposing moves.

I can see Dalton as a good mentor. However, I don't see him coming in and winning games if Lance goes down.

I'm going with Brissett, assuming he is willing to take on that role. This team is ready to go to the SB if the QB play holds up. Hence, I want the best player now. That is Brissett to me.

Makes no sense to me to bring in some 7-10 million a year backup QB. The whole point of Lance is he won't be injury prone like JG and he's on the rookie deal so we can save QB dollars to flex elsewhere. I say role with Sudfeld and cross our fingers Lance makes it 17 starts no bs QB power designed Tebow style runs plz Lance is QB not FB.
