If the Niners need don't change much in the next two weeks and the playoffs, I think they need to address the following positions in free agency and the draft: Primary needs: CB Edge Secondary needs: S WR IOL Here are the top 10 free agents per Pro Football Network by position for next year: DB's 1. Stephon Gilmore, CB, Carolina Panthers 2. Tyrann Mathieu, S, Kansas City Chiefs 3. Darious Williams, CB, Los Angeles Rams 4. Jessie Bates III, S, Cincinnati Bengals 5. J.C. Jackson, CB, New England Patriots 6. Donte Jackson, CB, Carolina Panthers 7. Marcus Maye, S, New York Jets 8. Marcus Williams, S, New Orleans Saints 9. Casey Hayward, CB, Las Vegas Raiders 10. Daniel Sorensen, S, Kansas City Chiefs Edge 1. Haason Reddick, Carolina Panthers 2. Derek Barnett, Philadelphia Eagles 3. Randy Gregory, Dallas Cowboys 4. Jadeveon Clowney, Cleveland Browns 5. Von Miller, Los Angeles Rams 6. Emmanuel Ogbah, Miami Dolphins 7. Chandler Jones, Arizona Cardinals 8. Charles Harris, Detroit Lions 9. Dante Fowler Jr., Atlanta Falcons Offensive Line 1. Orlando Brown Jr., T, Kansas City Chiefs 2. Brandon Scherff, G, Washington Football Team 3. Terron Armstead, T, New Orleans Saints 4. Duane Brown, T, Seattle Seahawks 5. Charles Leno Jr., T, Washington Football Team 6. Riley Reiff, T, Cincinnati Bengals 7. Laken Tomlinson, G, San Francisco 49ers 8. Ben Jones, C, Tennessee Titans 9. Jason Peters, T, Chicago Bears Based on these lists, there are only a few legit free agent prospects for the Niners, besides re-signing their own (Tartt and Tomlinson). At DB, Marcus Maye or Marcus Wiliams,at safety look like good targets to replace Tartt. At CB JC or Donte Jackson would be good prospects to play opposite Moseley. At G, it looks like the only upgrade would be Brandon Scherff at IOL. At Edge, either Haason Reddick or Emmanuel Ogbah would be the best options to replace Dee Ford. What say you? Unless this list changes dramatically, this is the worst year to only have 6 draft picks going into the offseason.

absolutely should buy big at corner. Look to draft for Edge and a second corner. Someone sell me on Ben Jones please.

You build through draft, supplement through FA. The majority of our key players were drafted by us (kittle, Warner, bosa, greenlaw, Mitchell, deebo, aiyuk).

I think we got to look at the CB position and possibly Center, following a Mack release. My wish list would be Ben Jones and Casey Hayward. Then draft edge rusher and OT (to compete with McGlinchey) early on in the draft.

If they bring in any outside FA at $10m+ a yr it'll only be 1, they have bigger priorities, extend Deebo & Bosa, re-sign Al-Shaair, Key, Laken, K'Waun, Jones, J.Wilson. The cap isn't going up ,inch when you factor in that the 2021 cap dropped by $15.7m, it should have been $215m ish this yr, $230m ish in 2022, but it will only hit the max of $208.2m.

Very true. I've been hoping we can get Hyder back, who should come cheaper. Between him, Ebukam, Omenihu, a rookie edge rusher, and Bosa, we have a steady rotation of outside guys that can rush. Then on the inside, AA, Jones, Kinlaw (is he expected to be ready at the start of camp?), Key, and potentially a rookie NT to begin developing. Heavy on Dlineman. But given our history- we need guys. The rookie NT could likely be put on the PS.

All those including me who wanted John Lynch to spend top dollar on a free agent CB!!!

"I really feel convicted that we've got a starting corner for years to come," Lynch said.

Talking about Ambry Thomas.

49ers are never gonna get over that hill as long as Lynch is the GM.

I don't know much about Alex Mack's contract or how much juice he has left, but Ben Jones is a good center and he's physical as hell. Would love to have him, a real tone setter.

Alex Mack signed a 3 year $15 mil deal. I don't see Shanahan getting rid of his boy any time soon, at least not next season. IMO

You're probably right. He's been fine, though. I just like Jones a lot. In all honest, I think the entire left side of our line is good. Brunskill needs to be replaced, but Tom Compton has proved to be a solid swing starter. Would definitely like a new right guard, assuming Aaron Banks isn't dead we might be ok there. Sign a solid right tackle... we're in business for a couple of more years, assuming we resign Tomlinson.
