And more importantly an all pro. Pretty good instincts and can get ints. Not a great tackler but we have Ward for that

Can't tackle, mediocre in coverage and rumored bad attitude. That's how you go from 1st round pick to 4th team in 4 years and a street free agent.
I'm sure this is exactly what they thought when signing him.
Lets sign a dude that we dont think will help

Well there's a reason we are in August and he is still available, and why he has been on so many teams. People should lower their expectations.

Uhhhhh He's been more successful than all of our Db's. And he's not that old.

Can't really count stats when comparing a guy who can't stay on the field to one who can unless it's a per game basis. Plus IIRC He struggled allot in GB after his good year because he thought he was so good he didn't need to play within the system… and he sucked. He would have one good play for an int and give up 5 because he would do his own thing at a position where unless your name is Polomalu or Ed Reed, you're gonna fail hard.
Health wise Dix is way better, but all things equal when they are both on the field… Tartt is a way better SS and it showed when he wasn't on the field in 2019 which missed him as a clean up artist.
But unless Dix shows he can finally adhere to a system, get his ego in check and realize he's not a HOFer who can gamble on every play… he's camp fodder regardless of his resume. Which is why he was still on the streets.

From reading around, that seems to be the book on him, that he freelances too often for DCs to be comfortable with. On defense, it really is about, 'do your job', and a defender that won't stick to his assignment will find himself not playing.
