Considering that Tartt has never had more than a 60 tackle season he doesn't even belong in the category with HAHA.

He's never topped HAHA in any category.

How'd he go from pro bowl safety to street free agent? Not that Pro Bowl means much but usually you don't suck if you're a pro bowler.

Thought he'd have a better career but if he's our backup i'm good with it.

That was last season.

The issue seems to be that Tartt, Moore and Jefferson are all out for who knows how long.
That leaves the safety room with only Ward, Tavon Wilson and Hufanga, with Marcell Harris who is converting to LB.
From what we've seen Wilson has had a good camp so far and could even beat Tartt for the starting job, Hufanga is a rookie who we don't want to start or play too much.
Depth is needed and at this stage you take whoever is out there who provides decent depth

Serviceable backup to who? Again, I'm not saying that Clinton-Dix has been a world beater in his NFL career. But he has been a Pro Bowler, an All Pro, he's 28 with still good years left in him, and he's not known to be an availability problem. He's not exactly a camp body. You might be able to attach the "serviceable backup" tag to Jefferson. But signing Clinton-Dix means somebody is in real roster trouble. The way I see it Ward is the only safe safety on the roster.

Tartt is the better football player. But Clinton-Dix is more talented IMHO.
