Trade idea (Julio Jones)

They have the assets...the question is, are the niners are gonna give them up for Jones.

I just laugh at posters offering 2nd and 3rd round or 2nd and 4th round picks for Julio Jones. A 32 year old receiver whose contract the Falcons need to shed and very few teams can take on his contract. The Falcons should give us a pick to take his contract. I'd offer one day 3 pick for Julio and Atlanta eats some of the contract.
If Atlanta doesn't eat a majority of the contract I wouldn't want him for free.

He's expensive right now for sure buts he's worth it and the cap is going to blow up in the next couple of years. Come this time next year his contract will be reasonable
Deandre Hopkins is pushing for the cards to go get Julio going as far as saying he'd take a pay cut
Can the cards even afford anyone? Seems like they signed a ton of expensive people lately

They certainly could if they wanted him especially if deandre took a pay cut
I would offer a 3rd or a 2022 4th and 2023 pick but not much else.

can't give up our 2nd rounder.

True. Very short rental
Last year was his worst year since 2013. He's still an elite WR and is significantly better than any one currently on the team. I really hope they can land him. Julio, Yuk, Debo & James. That's nasty.

He was on pace for 1370 yards if he would of played a full 16 games. He is still very elite
I wonder if they would take Jimmy for him? Jimmy might go for it, Matt Ryan is old and they just drafted Pitts as an enticing target. I see no reliable backup QB on Atlanta's roster (so Jimmy could fill that role while Ryan finishes his career.). It would leave the Niners with Lance and no reliable backup qb, but

1) I love Jimmy, but I don't think he's likely to win the Lombardi Trophy for us this year, which is kind of the whole point of the season, or most of it anyway
2) With Julio, Lance would have enough weapons to overcome some rookie mistakes and still win ballgames while he learns
3) It frees up Jimmy's cap hit so we could sign Julio and still do Warner's extension
4) It would keep one of our competitors, like Arizona, from signing Julio

That's a risk I would probably actually take, would be exciting to watch it all develop.

The reason the Falcons are going to get rid of Julio is because they need cap space to pay their rookies. Jimmy G cost more than Julio. Julio's cap hit is $23 Million and Jimmy's is $26 Million. From the Falcons view point I think Mostert for Julio makes more sense. Mike Davis is their #1 RB and he's not that good IMO. And Mostert is cheap. And it makes sense for the Niners also because we are loaded at the RB position and Mostert is on the last year of his deal.

Trading Jimmy is not an option for Atlanta and would be reckless for us. As much as Jimmy is on the hot seat, so are Kyle and John. They had one great season and a few under achieving ones. Trading Jimmy without Lance having a solid backup is a bad call. I do think they should throw draftpicls at Atlanta to get Julio in here. It's way too much positive for this team to ignore. Go all in this year for a superbowl, we have 4 or 5 years til Lance's contract extension severely hampers our cap. Go get it done while he's on the rookie deal
