Gardiner Minshew interest at QB?

Wouldn't mind if we traded a 5th for him

His numbers are actually very good. I like him as either a backup to Jimmy or a mentor/bridge to a rookie. He's also very cheap this season and next season.

I'm not sure what an asking price would be on him? I don't see the value in signing CJ unless they're strongly considering to trade Minshew. It seems like they're weakening the backup QB spot just to try and garner a little extra draft capital from Minshew. They must really want the extra draft picks because I'd rather keep Minshew and not even sign CJ if I were them. That's too late now though and it's hard to imagine Minshew not being on the move.

It's hard to fully judge his performance when the Jaguars basically went full rebuild. Traded Foles, Campbell, Bouye, Fowler, and Ramsey. Churn at OL, UDFA starter at RB (he good thou), and 22 IR / opt outs.

He also had 2 different OCs in his 2 year playing career, and he'll be on his 3rd - regardless if he stays put or gets traded.

He's a better, cheaper, and more athletic upgrade to CJ Beathard and Nick Mullens. If we opt not to draft QB on Day 1 or Day 2 of the draft, it's a no brainer to try and acquire him.

Additionally, Marathe gave Baalke a solid reco to Jags ownership for GM. I think we can avoid an overpay here.

I remember when people around the league were super high on him in 2019. We were even talking about how in 2020 Minshew might single handely cost the Jags a decent draft pick.

The idea of us getting Minshew does get me excited.

Not that I expect him to come in and dominate, but the dude has show some flashes of greatness but also has played pretty bad.

But him being in our offense would do him a lot of favors.

well it was no coincidence that the Jags sat him when it looked like they might have a legit shot at drafting Lawrence. lol.
