I think he'd be a good signing from Tennessee he reminds me of another Delanie Walker big fast strong target and another red zone threat who can also complement kittle. Not to mention you can hand the ball off to Jonnu and he can break a 50 yard run looking like Derrick Henry. Shanny would have fun with that. Hes an upgrade over reed!

Unlike Walker, Smith is an iffy blocker. He's never developed any sort of consistency in that regard. The other issue is he's likely going to get anywhere from $7-$9 million a year, it would be unlikely that the 49ers drop that much money on a TE considering their current cap situation.
I do think he'll be a good signing for someone. He's been highly underutilized in Tennessee's offense. He could be a 1,000 receiving yards guy in the right offense.

Smith had a breakout year. He is great for seem routes, and is a great red zone target. He would be a solid signing, but we do have other needs. Smith and Kittle would be hell for teams to scheme against with Aiyuk and Debo at WR. Shanahan did try to get Hooper last year. Would not be surprised.

Yep if New Orleans wasn't in cap purgatory I think he'd fit in there well being used in a Jimmy Graham like role.

I think his stats will hold him back from a big payday he only got like 400 yards last year those tds were mostly red zone. But our offense would be a whole new level better if we could get jonnu smith or corey davis the receiver.
