People make way too big of a deal out of destination. Because a few randoms said "oh Watson should totally want to go to the 49ers", that doesn't mean he's suddenly going to dismiss numerous other teams, including cities that he might better prefer to live in. As long as the dude is getting paid and the franchise isn't a complete dumpster fire, I'm guessing he'd make it work.

I don't think he would stop any trade as long as he's out of Houston. With how strongly he wants out he's not gonna be like "I don't want to go play for Washington"

We are in the lead by a mile. Hey Watson, just keep that foot on the throat

Lol well if you say so. Keep that same energy when Houston gets some ridiculous deal to send Watson to one of those teams that you just dismissed out of hand.

The only way this changes the Watson equation is that it takes one really weak contender(Bears) out of the picture and creates a potentially stronger trade contender in Philly.
so philly becomes a stronger contender but not the 9ers got it lol

Yes if Philly acquires a second 1st rounder in this upcoming draft then do they become a stronger contender in pursuing Watson if that is the direction they choose to go in. Unless one believes that they are firmly sold on Jalen Hurts, it certainly wouldn't hurt them to ask around about a deal.

Yeah that happens when a player has no say in where he goes.... Watson has a say. Why wouldn't you go to the best place to win?

People keep trying to talk themselves into "the 49ers are the best place to win" when there's no guarantee that Watson sees it the same way or prioritizes the same things that 49ers fans prioritize.

Some guys feel they can win anywhere. If you're a young, rich athlete there's definitely an allure to playing in places like New York, Miami and Los Angeles but as long as a deal gets worked out that gets him out of Houston fast, I think there are plenty of teams that Watson would be content playing on, including the 49ers, Jets, Dolphins, Eagles, Broncos and Raiders.

Yeah but I was only refering to the Eagles. They are almost as messy as the texans.

An extra first.. for wentz

Now who's talking themselves into scenarios?

If there's any truth to this then yes, they'd have an extra 1st.

Hey I can do that too

The thing is the Eagles need alot more than just a QB. They would be better off keeping their picks and sticking with Hurts. They need a WR, Oline, CB,, etc etc. They end up with two 1st RD picks they could help fill two needs right there.

Except Joe Thomas is a former player and the tweet I posted is from a Philly reporter that has broken several of their moves in trades and free agency over the past few years. Maybe there's something to it, maybe there isn't but if Philly gets 1st rounder from Chicago, they can definitely be a player in the Watson sweepstakes.
I will say this much, If Watson has to go to an NFC team that is not the Niners, Philly would be one of my top 3 choices. Because I still don't think they will be much of a threat. They will just be the NFC Texans. top 5 QB but not much else. And they won't have the draft capital or the cap space to fix their many other issues.

Joe talks with the players, he can have direct info from Watson.

In the end it's up to Watson, not Philly

Bc of his contract and the fact that hes a question mark right now, i wouldn't offer more than two 2nd round picks. Would make one of them conditional as well.

Not sure I'd offer anything. We've seen him be very good but he's a complete rebuild at this point. I think if he goes pretty much anywhere but Indy or maybe New England, he's very likely to flop. The 49ers have the coach who can use him, they have plenty of weapons but this dude needs to have an OL that gives him the confidence to just slow down, calm down in the pocket, take what the defense gives instead of trying to force plays expecting to get hit. His contract is also ugly as hell if you're not a team with a considerable amount of cap space.

I'd want two second round picks back lol.

I know right. His decision making was the worst in the league especially with that pick parade going on. That has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the front office. He just blows now. If he goes to the bears I see much of the same with their bad offense. IND will improve his play but no change in hell we get him.
