Move Ward back to CB and bring in Thomas

No way, Ward needs to stay at FS where he was really good in 2019, Earl is past his prime, he missed on tackles 14% of the time, Ward only 4% of the time.

Thomas is 31 and was a probowler last year....Ward is 29 and he sure wasn't a probowler last year.

As I recall the Pro Bowl is just a popularity contest, Earl missed tackles 14% of the time, Ward only 4% of the time. I'd rather have Ward at FS than Thomas, why would we sign Earl when we just gave Ward a 3yr deal worth $9.5M a yr?

"By their tracking, Thomas was thrown at 14 times in 547 coverage snaps. That equates to 2.5 of every 100 passes going Thomas' way. Pro Football Reference kept a different book on Thomas, showing 11 completions allowed on 25 targets for 113 yards and two interceptions.

That amounts to a 24.2 QB rating. That was the lowest figure in the NFL in 2019. Throwing the ball in the dirt is a 39.3 QB rating. In those 25 passes thrown at Thomas, he had two interceptions and four pass deflections. Six plays on the ball in 25 passes, nearly one every four times the ball way thrown his way.

PFR has Thomas' 42% completion rate in coverage as the second-lowest in the NFL, and he also didn't allow a touchdown in his coverage in 2019."

- Earl Thomas is still an elite single deep safety in coverage, something J.Ward will never be.

If he is a bad teammate, none of that data matters.

Multiple sources say team leaders said they want him gone. Done.

Wasn't someone mentioning using 3 safety's to counter air raid? 😋

Nice find jcs. I think he's Dallas bound anyway, but he's still so good vs the pass. We can always run through his ass if we ever play against him

No mater what people may think, Jimmie Ward is the teams FS, they gave him a good amount of money, they're not gonna sit him for Thomas, who probably won't take the league minimum, which is all we can cost/pay a player.

I don't care how good ET is/was, I'd rather take our chances with Ward and Tartt at Safety, with Moore playing in the nickel, makes no sense to sign ET and play him over any of those 3, especially Moore who needs to keep his development.

Agreed, by all that's come out,. Thomas is not a good teammate, I'd rather not bring him into this locker room, people need to get over these big names, no to AB, no to Thomas, no to Dez, etc...
Lol just what we need. Throw away all our chemistry for a malcontent who may provide a small upgrade for a higher price. Save the cap space and keep team chemistry.

I am not sure we would be "throwing away all our chemistry". This dude is, in Sherman's words "like a brother" to him.
Not sure we need him though and, like most everyone else, I think he'll end up on the cowturds.

In my opinion, if we can make it work on a 1-2 year deal I think he would be a great addition.
Sounds like the Cowboys aren't that interested

Who gives a s**t about the pro-bowl? Wagner/Kuechly were pro-bowlers last yr and weren't anything special.

Ward doesn't punch his teammates in the face, sounds like ET wasn't really a fan in that locker room either. Let him roll to Dallas and overpay for him.

Sounds like the NFL overall just isn't that into Thomas anymore. Dan Quinn also shot down the possibility of a reunion.

The Falcons will have two safeties with torn ACL's by lunch and they still don't want to give him a look.
You don't cut a star player over one incident. Especially when you just paid that star player huge money the year before. Something must of been repeatedly happening in-house. Shanahan encourages the scuffles as long as it doesn't get too far. Harbaugh will just cut your ass

Pushing out a starter who is completely immersed in the locker room and playbook for a guy who just got himself kicked off of his own squad. Yeah I think that may ruffle a few feathers. There's a reason we don't trade for flashy names and hand them huge contracts, it upsets the balance of the team.

Sherman is just providing cover for a former teammate with whom he was close as a player. It is unlikely Sherman has all the facts from Baltimore.

Thomas always had a surly attitude. Even when things were going well, he was not a guy you would choose as a best friend. You put up with his attitude because he was playing at a high level.
