Also something to think about, add the Lions as a team definitely grabbing a QB in the top 10 of the draft. I got a feeling a lot of teams will be wanting to move up on top 5 to get their QB and no one will be there at 12 not even Matt Jones.

Who's their best WR then? He lead the team in yards again this yr. the have cap room BUT they also have massive contracts they have to pay for with Nelson/Smith/Leonard etc. they need a LT and have nothing at CB/EDGE right now.
AFC is stacked with top young QBs. He's gonna have to go through allen/jackson/Mahomes/herbert (possibly Watson) and teams like the Browns, Titans who both have good young QBs as well.
NFC is wide open.

Playing doesn't mean he's consistently effective. It only means he's tough.

Yeah it Stafford goes to a team like the colts, that does little to help us (makes it worse). If they want a top QB to groom, they're gonna have to move up regardless.
Stafford imo is they're best option right now.

I think that was happening with or without Stafford for them.

Takes the colts out of the Watson hunt. Detroit isn't in it because Watson can veto.

Fact: He's had one 1,000 yd rusher
In 12 yrs
Fiction: He doesn't win
Fact: Lions 11-5 w/ him only year w/ a top 5 D
Tbf we haven't had a 1000-yard rusher since Shanahan got here and our running game is still considered elite by most.
What kind of OL have the Lions had this past decade? Legit asking because idk.

Zero chance Colts are in the Watson hunt. Texans would rather trade Watson to the NFC for two 1sts then trade him to an AFC South rival for seven 1sts.

I did too but they were one of the teams who were 50/50 to me since Stafford was only 32.

Knowing Ballard, he's going to want a long-term solution at QB. Stafford would just be a bandaid. I see the Colts going all-in on one of the QBs in the draft if they start to slide. I don't care that Stafford is 32 going on 33 and guys like Roethlisberger, Rodgers, Brady, Brees are in their late 30s going into their 40s and still playing. Everyone's body is different as is their mentality of playing that long.

I've screen capped a couple on the slim chance we trade for him and then he goes on to outperform Jimmy.
What outcome will that provide? Everybody will continue to post as they please without a single consequence. This is the internet.
Probably nothing, because if Stafford ends up here and plays well all of them will be posting in the official crow eating thread that will be made.
I mean that's fine. But literally every thread in the history of this website is littered with bad takes. Look at the Goff thread. Or Watson thread.
There's like three dudes who just don't like Stafford. Anybody else who is being painted as "anti-Stafford" just want a deal that makes sense. He's not some legendary guy. And he's never been as impactful as a guy like Watson. He's just this years decent vet QB that's available.
Only problem with Watson is that it'd cost two entire drafts of premium picks to get him. But it's a bit disingenuous to say he's a "decent vet," because that ignores that he's one of about five QBs in the entire NFL that can make the Mahomes-esque throws. He's a decent vet who has elite of the elite physical talent, and perhaps that could be unlocked with a great offensive coach. Then again, maybe what's upstairs will never fully click. But the physical talent is greater than his production - although the actual production makes him what you said: this year's decent vet QB.

Yeah I was a bit iffy on Stafford but he's got five good years left. Peyton Manning had arguably his best season at age 37. Age 37 is what Stafford will be during the 2025 season.

But if yall think Stafford ain't better then the "proven winner" Jimmy then tall don't know football.
Stafford can do everything Jimmy can do but the opposite can't be said.
I seriously can't believe we have fans who think Jimmy is better just cause he's a "winner"
Stafford can throw the deep ball and has great 'arm talent'. Jimmy has a great release but has limitations and can't hit the deep throws with any consistency. He's also made of glass so although fans of JG speak of his win %, the teams win % drops every game he's out.
"Fans of JG" aren't a monolith.
Every fan just wants to win. Improve the position with a fair deal and everybody will be happy in the long run.
Progress, I like it
It's been that way the whole time. You just ran with your narrative. Garoppolo is better than a s**t deal for Stafford.
A s**t deal for Stafford gives us a legitimate chance at winning a Super Bowl in 2021 (assuming Trent and Jason are resigned). I'd take one Super Bowl win and five 7-9 seasons than 5 9-7 to 11-5 seasons with no Super Bowl win.
