He's currently making what he'd probably also make if he got released and became a FA. This market is going to raise the price of a 31 year old pass rusher who is only one year removed from a 10+ sack season.
If we want him why not trade a 6th for him and guarantee getting his services rather than competing with other teams and having his price tag balloon?

I agree, and a 6th would seem about right. He has shown the type of pass-rushing production that the Niners really need. I've read that Griffen is a fan favorite to many Vikes fans. You just have to hope the mental health situation he worked through last year doesn't continue to be an issue.

I'd throw a 6th rd pick and take on that contract, which is basically a yr to yr team option. He would only cost like $11 million this yr.
