back injuries are the worst.. expect nothing from him in my opinion

Ford says hi...
Joe Montana too.

Yeah...they don't really make them like him anymore.
------
Just 56 days after an operation to repair a ruptured disk in his back, Montana returned to the starting lineup and led the 49ers to a 43-17 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. In that game, Montana completed 13 of 19 passes for 270 yards and 3 touchdowns.

What keeps me hopeful is that he was pretty damned durable in college. He played in 47 games (33 as an SEC running back) and only missed part of 2016 after his falling out with the Tennessee staff. Other than that he didn't miss a college game over four seasons.

Exactly, it's just unfortunate he suffered season ending injuries back to back. It's not like he plays gets soft tissue injuries misses a few weeks and repeat. My only concern is that the back doesn't flare up again or he loses skill due to it, the acl isn't a concern.

Yeah, hopefully the extra year (off) gave his back extra time to fully heal too.

My biggest concern about him isn't whether or not he is injury prone but whether or not he refuses to play less than 100%. I mean, he switched from RB to WR in college for a reason.

He wasn't shy about stating the reason was the wear & tear and short career span for RB's. Kind of Ironic thinking about it now. But it wasn't an unreasonable decision.

Why can't this happen? Also, add in the threat of Lance. Dude is even bigger than Sermon, has a legit 65 yd hose, and runs like a gazelle. Talk about a DC's nightmare.

Because the chances of all those dudes being healthy at the same time....isn't great (Kittle as well). I would love for that to be the case, gotta see it to believe it though.

Hopefully game 1 at least

Couldn't even manage that last season. I believe the starting wrs was Bourne and Pettis.

He could have possibly been a 1st rounder if he stayed at RB and collected more $$ in 4 years than he gets as a 3rd rounder in 4 years.

Totally ironic!
Its super frustrating that this guy cant stay healthy because his versatility would be a problem for opposing teams. One more thing they need to account for. Just in the couple pre season games he played you could tell he had a lot to offer us. Really pulling for him to make a full recovery and get on the dang field this season.

Don't you have to be somewhere first before you actually come back?

Yeah Dee Ford had a back injury, he hasn't been back. its Hurds last chance. I think 49ers are ready with the other WRs if Hurd can't make the team because of injures. I like his potential, but have been disappointed too many times to expect much from him this preseason.

yup. I was super excited with this kid, but at this point who knows. IF he is ever 100% healthy he would be a matchup nightmare.

Deebo / Ayiuk / / Kittle / Hurd / Sermon = would be great,
... but injuries are a big concern which is why they need more depth at WR and TE

I hope he gets to play a little bit and wasn't just false hope like Marcus Lattimore. If this dude every gets healthy he is the answer to our WR problems. Dude is a bigger, faster, more agile Delanie Walker type player. Kyle would drive people nuts with all the dual threat players we have now and the size/speed this dude brings
Hope he turns up this year.
