Injuries - especially non-contact ACL injuries - are completely unpredictable. There's no one to blame except bad luck/fate. Not the player, not the front office, not anyone.

Every year the 49ers are short at least 1 receiver.
What? Neither Jennings nor Patton were in the first 3 rounds. Jennings was a 7th and I really don't see how you can describe him as a wasted pick. I don't see how you can describe Hurd as a wasted pick either. This is football. Injuries happen. Patton and possibly Pettis didn't work out. That is the draft for you. There are no guarantees. But Deebo and Ayuk look very good. Regarding being short one receiver, do you think that is maybe why they have been trying out some vets?

You blame the front office...and, keep in mind, for every miss, there's been some hits.
It feels like there is no middle ground with their picks.
You get guys like Kittle, Greenlaw, Fred Warner, Bosa (no brainer)...undrafted dudes like Moseley who looks like a promising starter at CB.
Then you get Solomon Thomas, Joe Williams, Beathard, etc.
Now you have Hurd...he falls into the latter category.
It was uphill besides the injuries. He barely played WR. Shanahan can get blinded by potential with early picks...and it's bit him in the ass. The best picks of the top 3 rounds were when they didn't overthink it.
Samuel was a highly touted WR and they took him right where they should have. Bosa....same deal. If they overthought, they woulda went with Quinnen Williams or Josh Allen.
Hurd was a potential guy and Shanny was enamored with his own ego/acumen, and what he could do with that kind of athlete. That's his biggest weakness: stubbornness and the chip on his shoulder to prove a point that he can make a guy who others are overlooking into a star.
To be fair, Hurd also had an injury history.
I saw this pick as one of these from the get go, unfortunately. That said, I'm not too bummed because I didn't give a lot of credence to this pick.
Without Deebo, this WR core somehow is still SO underwhelming in terms of star power. It has been since Terrell Owens left town.
With Deebo, this corps is decent on paper, and very high on potential. But otherwise, I can't see how this roster still struggles at WR while the rest of the position groups are stacked.
End.
Don't further Mitch Wishnowsky, the 43 year old punter, or, offensive weapon. LOL

James PUP Pettis traded future 6th
Is that order your depth chart?
Yeah
Tavon Austin is way too high on your depth chart. A little hint for a more accurate prediction is don't take the guy who just got signed off the street and make him your 1B.

This is almost as bad as Ward blowing out his hammy during a physical. They had him off to the side to ease him in and he somehow blows out his ACL? Unreal.

Gotta feel for the kid, heartbreaking for him. So much talent. Sometimes the body just doesn't want to do what you've dreamed of your entire life

Agree, a freak circumstance. I've seen them happen in pro-bowls and even beach vollyball. Kyle said he'll be back next year, and hopefully we'll have tremendous depth next year because of this. Remember Jimmy's ACL resulted in Bosa.

Thx. I'm prob wrong but it's a guess. Deebo will either be on PUP or not active for game day's for a month. I'm guessing Austin with the vet exp will start

I sensed a bit of dog in this bloke in his post draft interviews. I hope that attitude can carry him through his knee reconstruction and rehab. 49ers fans everywhere are behind you, Jalen!!!

Hurd can't get off the runway, it will be hard to come back after 2 years. Does he have the will and dedication to start a career? We will find out.

I just looked up his IG to message him the best and couldn't find it. He really deleted his page because he was getting so much hate for getting hurt
Embarrassing fans there

Fans need to get over it, injuries happen, it's a fact of life. I'm not giving up on Hurd, he could come back stronger, maybe like McKinnon, who looks 100%.
