Does anybody have insight to how good of a route runner Williams is? I know he has some size and speed which KS could use regardless, but I haven't watched him enough to know if he's really only a one trick pony. I think with Goodwin Pettis and Bourne, we can shore up this position through FA and maybe an undrafted rookie. With only 5 picks I don't see us burning one on this position, even after we release garcon. I think he or Moncrief would go a long way to getting this offense back on track once Jimmy G is back at the helm.

It's difficult to say, they are a vertical passing attack, his route tree seems limited to go, post, drag and the odd comeback and slant.
Keenan Allen runs a full route tree, I've seen Williams live and was impressed, I don't think it's his fault he's been pigeonholed.
Whether that's enough for Kyle remains to be seen. We need a Z and he's one of the best candidates, I do think he'll be overpaid for his level of talent though.

I hoped to get a top wr at the top of round 2. It looks like who we'd want Will go in round one. We probably need to pick another position there instead like another pass rusher. We need to go all in on Williams in FA. I saw the height and speed I wanted seeing him at SD. I had went back and looked at some articles from when he came into the NFL. One of the things that jumped out was a real good 3 cone drill time that Shanny will like. Articles have said he's improved his route running since then and worked on things like back shoulder throws and going up and getting the ball on contested catches.

The general consensus among charger fans is bad route running. Screwed Rivers over a lot with that. Big and fast but not physical at all, which is a bummer considering his size. Still young and getting better though.
Who knows how he'd fit with us though. Everyone thought Goodwin was a one trick pony and incapable of route running. In reality he never had the opportunity to learn from a great offensive mind.

Tyrell Williams has had success in the NFL, and if someone like Shanahan can get more out of him (a la Goodwin) this would give the offense another dimension. Would really depend on the money it would take but worth a look for sure. The Free Agent Wide Receiver class looks awful this year.

If the price is right OK but the guy isnt special to me lots of tall younger faster receivers for cheaper, also we dont throw deep too much can he run any other routes?

Which one and what round. We only have 5 picks and many other holes to fill.

Exactly. If they can bring in Williams, he could be lethal in this offense, given the attention that would be given to Kittle, Goodwin, and stopping the run game.

Rethinking him as a FA. He's good, but not really a RZ threat and doesn't run the best routes . Someone like moncrief might be a better option

Same. Not to mention I've seen him have some egregious drops. As for Moncrief, they already passed on him once, so I don't think he'll be on their radar.

You bet...I've been watching him the last month +...he's the big WR Shanahan could really use in his offense. He shouldn't be overly expensive, either. Go get 'em, Lynch.
