What would it take to trade for AJ Green?

The 49ers have $18.5M, but they need $2.9M for per game roster bonus paybacks, plus $4M for incentives for Sherman, then we're left with $11.7M for the season, barring any in season moves(unlikely they don't make more moves), that would leave little to no carryover in a deal for Green or OBJ, and we won't have the cash/cap room to keep Green, or afford OBJ in 2020.

Can we restructure/extend guys like Juice and Tarrt to push the cap down in 2020? We could move on from guys like Goodwin/Jet (In 2020) and a couple other depth guys to create around $10M in room, yes?

At worst with AJ you'd be renting him for a yr and get a 3rd rd comp in 2020. All depends on how "in" SF is this yr and what the compensation would be.

I don't see it happening which is unfortunate

AJ Green won't earn anybody a comp pick until 2021. They come the year after they leave the roster, not the same offseason.

I'm not sure why we can't get a SIGN & TRADE deal done for Green, but if Lynch and Shanny truly follow my posts...

This is what I would suggest to them !! YOOHOOO !!!

Sun Screen - let him re-start his promising career at Cincy
Arik or Solomon - the money we'll need to resign them can be given to Green and he'll be more worth it.

2020 - third rounder OR 2021 - second rounder

You're correct, sir

NE is looking at getting two 3rd this upcoming draft because they lost Flowers/Brown.
Give a 3rd round pick and future 4th round

If he leaves will get compensation pick back

With his injury history and this team's unfortunate luck when it comes to injuries, I'd stay far away from Green. I can see NE taking the risk, but not us unless it's for an insanely cheap price, like a couple late round picks.

He's missed 17 games in 8 seasons in this league. I think the whole "injury history" fallacy is being a bit overplayed here on the zone. And quite frankly, I'm sick of these midget receivers who can't catch passes outside the numbers or who are dropping passes left and right. We can wait until week 11 for Hurd, or we can take a gamble now and try to win as many games until our starters are healthy enough to return.
Depends on the price. If the price is reasonable, he would be a sensational addition at WR that would make this offense considerably more dangerous.

I mean no one cares if AJ was a work horse the 1st 5 or so yrs of his career...we wouldn't be getting that AJ. He's got lower leg issues and they seem to be reoccurring.

If the price is right sure, I don't think Cinci is gonna give him away and you have to think about a new contract (which isn't cheap for a 31 yr old).

As far as "midget" WRs you gotta get over that crap...big WRs drop balls as well. Go watch Jordan Matthews film in Philly

FYI the Cinci HC just stated they won't be trading AJ. We can all move on now.

What is the contract situation with Green? Can the 49ers absorb his contract or would he have to restructure?

They don't.

End.

He's in the last yr of his deal....around $15M is the current cap hit. I'm not sure how that works 6 weeks into the season and how much money Cinci takes on in a trade.

Thing is do you want to make him one of the highest paid WRs at 32 and having bad ankles? He's a total stud when on the field but that's a pretty big risk. I think he's unlikely to be moved (they said he's not)....which is very dumb based on their current team.
