his consistent cause he gets a million balls thrown at him. With all those targets he should be getting more that 22 TDs in his career and avg more that 10 ypr IMO.
This yr he avg 8.8 YPR which is 108th in the league, that's awful....our FB is avg more.

You sign Robinson who gets benched? Goodwin/Garcon are outside receivers and neither have much experience nor the right skill set for the slot. Same goes for Robinson.
Landry is the best in the league on short slot routes. No really. I like Taylor in the slot but Landry is on a different level. A core of Garcon/Goodwin/Landry is top shelf level.
Landry has 400 receptions in his first 4 seasons, by far the NFL record. Next closest is Boldin at ... wait for it ... 342. That's a 58 reception difference between 1st and 2nd. The difference between Landry in 1st and Boldin in 2nd is the same as the difference between 2nd and 23rd.
If we sign one of them, it should be Landry. Robinson, as good as he is, is redundant to what we already have.
All that said, I don't think the 49ers should sign a big name receiver. Jimmy G put up the numbers he did with their current group minus the No. 1 in Garcon. Taylor and Kettle were rookies and Goodwin and Garcon was in his first year with the team. It stands to reason all will be better next year after an offseason to get tuned to Jimmy G. And fwiw Garcon is a good red zone target.

Well has Bortles been consistent, since you bring up Cutler?
......this wouldn't have even been a debate if Robinson was healthy in 2017, his numbers would've been #1 in free agent receivers where Jacksonville would've had to tag him.
Again, some of you are forgetting what the argument is. lol

Which means what? Landry runs his routes close to the line of scrimmage. He's not a down field threat never has been in the NFL or really college. He's a slot WR.
10.1 ypr is not amazing man, Some TEs and RBs actually avg more.
Landry is who he is a slot wr with good hands....we have a slot guy who's getting paid next to nothing. He's a favorite of our HC and gets first downs. I don't see them replacing him with an expensive Landry.

When did Robinson get benched? And Landry plays mostly inside to where Robinson plays outside?

It's the routes he runs. He is deadly on short screens. Think of them as glorified runs.
As far as targets being the reason for so many catches ... Landry has caught 70.2% of his targets. Robinson? 52.6%. Now there is some adjustment for the routes they run. Landry, as I said, gets a lot of screens. Still. Robinson's number is not good. If you were to put that percentage into this season he would rank 66th out of the 78 receivers with at least 30 catches.

Go look at how often he gets the ball thrown his way, of course he's gonna have a million catches for next to nothing yard wise. Jimmy G and Kyle like to throw the ball down field not dump it off all game.
Garcon is not a red zone threat never has been...he's gonna be 32 and we have an out after 2018. Allen imo is what this team needs at WR and I don't see this team spending top dollar on a slot guy, especially because of how much Kyle loves Taylor (that was his pick).
I agree end of the day I don't see this team spending big money on a FA WR regardless.

Reread what I wrote. I'm not getting where you think I said Robinson was benched. I said, if he were to be signed, who do you bench Garcon or Goodwin. All three play outside and don't have much experience sliding inside. Landry's game is inside. That's why, if the 49ers were to pick one of Robinson/Landry, it is Landry that fits best.

Right and Kyle/jimmy G throw the ball downfield. No one said Landry isn't great at catching balls...like you said a buttload of screens near the line of scrimmage, he'd better be catching those balls lol. That will improve anyone's catch %
Allen is avg 4 more ypr compared to Landry. That's huge...he's also caught the same about of TDs with 186 less attempts.
If we want short yardage consistent catches then Landry is your man...if you want a red zone target that avg solid yards per catch allen is your man. IMO I'll take allen.
Too each their own.

You are arguing things in a vacuum. Playing a WR isn't all about catching screens or redzone targets.
You have yet to answer who gets dropped from the starting lineup, Garcon or Goodwin? Those two and Robinson play the outside.
Robinson vs Landry isn't just about who is better. It's about who improves the 49ers the most. To get Robinson on the field either Garcon or Goodwin has to come off of it. Not the case with Landry.
his entire career.
