No. If Cam is the ceiling for Trey, we failed. The ceiling should be Randall Cunningham or better.

If they cut Jimmy G and sign Cam they will officially enter the Twilight Zone of sub 500 franchises.

Mac Jones is a rookie that has played in 7 games and he already has more touchdown passes than Newton had all of last season.

Mac Jones is a rookie that has played in 7 games and he already has more touchdown passes than Newton had all of last season.

Ya man I hear that. Mac Jones is a legit nfl qb but- but- he is never gonna be better than a middle of the road qb. Case Keenum etc come to mind if I think about it....

And after thinking about it I can only say what I usually think. Screw that chit

Yeah i dont think we would sign Cam to be the starter. We would sign him to be Trey's backup, which I am all for. If we ship Jimmy off, Cam Newton as our QB2 seems like a done deal.

Cam Newton is not a viable option as either a backup or a starter.

One of the legends of the game. Had perhaps the most dominant CFB season of all time. Set the league on fire as a rookie and won MVP later. I think a lot of the power running took it's toll. He had known foot issues which sap the run ability and as anyone who throws knows, you need your base to throw. Appears to be cinnamon toast crunch at this point in his career. Likely still better than Sam Darnold.

His decent from glory should be a lesson for Shanny. Dont use Trey Lance as a RB. I wonder if this is why he doesnt want to start him this season because he hasnt developed enough as a passer.

But i agree, Cam Newton at his best was dominant. Sad to see injuries break him down. I dont think his tenure with the Panthers right now will be successful and we should definitely look to bring him in as Trey Lance's backup. People see Cam Newton and unintelligent and a diva, but I think he actually has a great football IQ and team attitude. Would offer a good mentor to a young QB with similar skillsets.
