Joe Williams - RB, Utah

Member Milestone: This is post number 600 for Bobdawg78.
Personally I see us rolling with Hyde-Williams-Hightower, if we keep a 4th RB it would probably be Bibbs, due to his ST abilities, Breida will be on our PS.
He had blamed hisself since it happened and had let it consume him. When he stepped away from the team he finally grieved and let himself off the hook forgave hisself, and played from that point forward to honor his sister rather than blaming hisself and feeling bad for being alive when she wasn't. Some people take even longer to finally grieve and face the demons of losing a loved one.
He was able to grieve with professional help.

Hmm... when I first heard the story of his sister dying, I thought it was really recently. Like he quit the team to grieve her loss. Only just saw he was 7 or something at the time. Not denying that's got to be a lot to get over, but just seems a bit odd that it causes him to quit football ten years later.

Really wasn't explained very well in any of the interviews or background stuff.

He was 13 when it happened. That's a very significant era of a person's development. From what I gather, at some time during the night he felt response to look after her, but when she took a turn for the worse and eventually died later that night he felt that he hadn't been responsible enough. Add to that holding her as they rushed to the hospital only to have her die so soon after that. That's a lot of emotion for an adolescent to deal with, and it sounds as though he took the burying approach, which for a young man who is headed to athletics and such seems more common than not. Gotta be the tough guy, especially in junior high, high school and college. Eventually it contribute to side effects in attitude and reached its zenith in September.
Is anyone else thinking he could fall off the rails with the smallest push?

Obviously anyone with depression issues is a risk. Hopefully the team puts some good tools out there for him to seek help if he needs it and hopefully he truly did forgive himself and get his head right or as right as it can at this point.

I'm a season ticket holder for the Utes and was beyond ecstatic over this pick. Dude is FAST. Very rarely gets caught from behind.

His speed causes bad tackling angles. He's not ultra fast but he is definitely faster than the average NFL RB.

He ran a 4.37 40 at his pro day...is that not fast to you?

where did you see that

It was 4.41 actually, and it was on the Ute's site.

Regardless of any weakness he has (real or perceived), there is no doubt he is a HR threat. I don't need a stop watch to tell me that. Just one look at his highlight package shows you all you need to know.
Dude definitely has football speed and not just track speed. Great acceleration through the line and better than average top end speed. If Williams, Breida, Juice, Hyde and the Oline can stay healthy this will be a fun season to watch football as long as we have realistic expectations.

Breida is a freak baby scores of the charts at his pro-day...had monsters yrs in 2014-2015 but had a down yr this past season. Bibbs hasn't done much of anything in this league.

Give me upside with a 4 string RB

Refreshing. The Harbaugh era was like Ringling Bros. in comparison. It's like he was hiding state secrets.
