Either way, the team can cut him prior to April 1st and save that money. Nothing I've seen, read, or heard says otherwise. If you have something that says that we have to pay him regardless, please provide link.

Just Google Kaepernick and injury. No one's gonna bother to post a link to old news if you won't even Google it yourself. It's been out there for months.

Then why are so many dudes in here posting crap that's not true?

As the numbers trickled out, it was recognized that the segmented deal gave the 49ers a litany of eject buttons. And they can easily separate this offseason so long as Kaepernick doesn't suffer a catastrophic injury that guarantees his 2016 salary. So long as they cut ties prior to April 1, the 49ers won't be responsible for anything but the remainder of his prorated signing bonus, which would amount to roughly $7.4 million. After the numbers are crunched, they could cut him at a salary-cap savings of $6.9 million next year. And, poof, the contract is gone.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/this-is-why-49ers-built-colin-kaepernick-s--126m-deal-in-such-shrewd-fashion-041603581.html

Lets look at the injuries.

Torn shoulder muscle (non throwing shoulder). - Surgery was a success. Rehab in progress.
The guy played many games with the injury it will not keep him from passing a physical.

Knee bruise minor cartilage damage. - Surgery was a success to scope the knee and clear the cartilage causing pain.
Players come back from a knee scope in a couple week. This will not keep him from passing a physical.

Torn hand ligament (throwing hand), - Surgery was a success. Rehab in progress.
It may keep him from throwing the ball 80mph but will not prevent him from passing a physical.

Per Matt Barrows yesterday.
- Kap may not "pass" a physical today but moving forward his injuries are not serious.

So lets stop talking about him not passing the physical until he actually fails a physical its of no concern. Unless he falls down some stairs or something nothing leads anyone to believe he will not pass a physical in the next 2 weeks.

Fact: The 49ers can save money by cutting him prior to April 1st. It is why the have it written into his contract every year, to protect the team.

They can still keep him. Put the $11.9m on the books and hope they can trade him. Problem is the teams that want him don't think he's worth that much so taking over his contract seems unlikely. So the 49ers would be stuck with him and be paying a lot of money to a guy you don't know for sure will be your starting QB and need to go through all of this same mess again next year if he's still on the roster.

From a team standpoint if they can't get a decent draft pick for him it would be better to keep him. Problem he doesn't want to be here and how hard would he be willing to work for a team he doesn't want to be on is a concern.

What leads you to believe he will pass the physical? time table is 4-6 months and he had it done in January...it's not like he had one surgery, he had three separate surgeries. Just because he played through some pain doesn't mean doctors clear him in April.

I agree we need to wait before we declare him unhealthy, but no way both sides to just pass him or fail him unless they are completely certain one way or the other...there wayyy too much cash on the line.

All of those words I just wrote up there.

no facts just your opinions okay

uh so Matt Barrows is a liar is that what you're saying? He said none of his injuries would prevent him from passing a physical when the time comes.

lol

He didn't say anything about passing a physical in 2 weeks LOL he said his injuries aren't serious! Please provide me a quote from Barrows saying Kap WILL in fact pass his physical on 4/1 and I will completely agree with you no problem.

well if his injuries are not serious why would he fail a physical?

No. Why don't you ask Matt yourself if you're so concerned about it.

I just brought up the fact of WHAT IF he couldn't pass a physical yesterday and know some of you just want to roll with the idea he won't pass one.

Unless Barrows totally changed his stance this was what he said about his torn labrum a couple months ago.

"Matt Barrows is reporting a source said the labrum tear was extensive, and the recovery period is expected to be four to six months."

http://www.ninersnation.com/2015/11/24/9792970/colin-kaepernick-shoulder-surgery-complete-4-6-month-recovery-begins

It's not that I'm concerned about it just that you said Matt reported that Kap would pass the physical and I haven't see it.

Like I said I agree with waiting until the 1st, but I haven't read or heard anything suggesting that he will pass the physical that all...I'm not trying to be a dick just trying to get all the facts.

OMG and he's been actively trying to trade him lol. If he's on the roster after April 1st it just makes it that much harder to trade him.

Do you have a Kap jersey you don't want to part with or something?

All that means is that they aren't gonna cut him before April 1st. I want kap traded not cut and teams like Denver and the Browns are holding out in hopes that we do...which I just don't see happening.

I never said I was a Kap lover at all lol.

The torn shoulder muscle should be the least worried about, imo. You can't play in games if you would fail a physical. The shoulder injury never prevented him from playing in games.

This is just common sense.

The only injury I could see being a problem is if his grip strength in his throwing hand would prevent him from holding a football tight enough. Other than that there is no reason to not believe that his injuries are not serious as stated.

Of course Trent has to say they won't cut him. If he said anything else Teams would just think there's a chance he could be cut and they can get him without a trade and giving anything away.

Trent lies all the time, fyi.
Dont we have a kap thread?
If the Browns wont take on his salary then I vote we just keep him. We have the space anyway and we arent signing anyone big this year.

If Goff or Wentz fall to us draft them and let them sit a year. Have Kaepernick and Gabbert fight for the starting position. If Kaep looks good (and I think he could) we have even better trade bait for next year.

I guess we will find out in two weeks
Since Seattle signed that horrible guard or tackle Webb , does that mean that we might wind up with that even the worst player in Larson? I hope not

The difference is you can play hurt during the season and they don't get physicals after every game...Kap's physical is gonna be done with a fine-tooth comb there's $12 million on the line.

I don't see a trade happening before April 1st, but I don't see him getting cut either.

Maybe I wrong who knows.

Ugh...the only positive thing I can think of is he's much much better in ZBS vs the power stuff they ran in zona?

Maybe that's a reason seattle was interested in him as well?

We'd say he's not that good lol maybe he was in he wrong scheme?
I hope so. I just think that he is Deveys evil twin sister.
I just have to say I love that Seattle lost Irvin, mebane, lynch, sweezy and most probably okung. Good luck replacing those starters. And since Seattle has had probably the worst three drafts almost out of any team Easily worse than the 49ers they have no depth to speak of. Enjoy 9 wins without injuries and the wild card if at all again.

That would be Pears. Which makes Larson Devey and Pears evil cousin
