A couple of thoughts.
I think Baalke and Chip are very much aware of the current perception they have around the league. I feel like they are steering clear from higher profile/more veteran players because they don't want to have a Demarco Murray/ Byron Maxwell 2.0 here. I think they want to gain some momentum (perception wise) before they start making any big acquisitions. The bad part is that they can't do that until the season starts.
I think they're trying to put forth a new image, a new culture, a new system.. and they intend to do it with their own players.Players they want out of college... And I like that idea. I'm more patient than the majority and i know that's not an attractive proposition for the rest. But I'm on board.
I know many dont share my sentiment, but I think Chip and Baalke can build something really good here. They just need to be given a chance. They have the draft picks to do it. They just need to execute now.
I look at it this way. And I know they're different sports but the philosophy is the same. In Mexican soccer or even baseball for that matter, there are many teams that spend a lot of money in acquiring big names big players.. and while they may do ok, every season there is always one or two teams that emerge with young talented players, playing with tenacity and hunger.
I really do think that the 49ers can do just that ...with this coaching staff.. especially the offense.

Solve the offense and we should put up some good fights. but we should have least gotten some OL/DL Free agents to help

Above is the glass half full theory. The glass half empty is we tried to sign multiple free agents and none of them wanted to join this lair of uncertainty. I think it falls in the middle with us losing out on a couple mid-tier free agents.

I could definitely see this being the case. We still went after a couple guys Baalke likely hoped we could get at a reasonable price, but due to several teams having significant cap room this year, and plenty of competition for FA players, we missed out. Doesn't necessarily mean he should change his methodology and sign guys he normally wouldn't have because he missed out on his targets.
That said, I still hope he makes some solid additions, but the number of assets is limited.

you can scheme a decent offense, thats chips job
defensively this is a heavy d-line draft, you'll get better value in the draft if anything
im convinced the o-line has talent, they were just mismanaged last year
brown should of been starting since day 1 for one thing and we dont know what thomas has even though he played well during the preseason.

Andre smith was the 56th ranked OT this past season and his fat and lazy I hope he goes to the cards!
The year prior I believe Smith was the #1 RT.

Seriously Brock is way better than Robinson and Andre Smith is not good at all. So I would say maybe Andre Smith at one of the guard positions but he would be a weak link.

Not so long as there's the slightest chance that someone, somewhere -- maybe even someone not born yet -- may not have seen any of his earlier posts describing how he feels.
