All this cap space and the do this. Such 49ers...

It sucks as a fan, I was screaming at the Blazers for not using all their cap money too. However, the rational part of me looking at this situation because I am not a fan or hater of the 49ers, is that fit is more important than star power. It's easier to see in the NBA because there are less players, so I will use that.

If a team signed Melo, Howard and Hardin, a fan would be going crazy with excitement, but someone who looks at the real numbers and their collective defensive deficiencies, would think, that's a waste of money.

Find guys that fit the system and the culture they are trying to bring. The 49ers are still at least an off season away from being taken seriously. A few years ago this team was in the super bowl for crying out loud, with players Baalke and others picked. Executive of the year in 2011. It's not that he is a complete moron. Has he made mistakes? Absolutely, but he and Chip seem to be on the same page, so give both a chance to surround Chip with the talent he needs to win consistently.

If he brings in someone like Bradford (which I am still hearing from the same person that told me Smith to the Raiders was happening) then you can start killing guys

Kap is easily the best option. Pay up.

given all that the Broncos lost this off-season, I'd pick up RG3 and keep the pick, just my opinion

I agree, if we press them hard enough they will part with a 2nd rd pick. It's at the bottom of the 2nd rd too, so still basically a 3rd. But I don't see us getting anything higher than a 2nd for Kap. Denver is the perfect option, they desperately need a veteran starter.

If it's their 2nd, they will likely need to throw another pick in there.

The bottom line is -- the Broncos have to give us a package that guarantees the Niners can move into the top 3 and snag Wentz or Goff. If their package can't make that happen, then it's no deal.

To be fair, it was nice to re-sign Ian Williams. And we got him for a good price as well. Still, I hope there's some more news today!

I want their 31st pick OR a 2nd this year and next (depending on playing time)....Broncos have zero leverage in this. We don't have to get rid of Kap and have a butt load of cash with him still on the team.

That's a great point. If we're parting with Kap, definitely need to make sure we position ourselves to land Wentz or Goff.

I think there's a good chance we can sit at 7 and still land Goff, but I'd watch out for the Rams. They might make a big move into the Top 10 to grab a QB. They have nothing at the position.

The fact that Sean Smith picked the Raiders over us, i think shows that players don't wanna play here for a few obvious reasons

I don't get this mindset at all. I mean I get being disappointed we didn't sign anyone of note yet. And I get being frustrated by the sudden loss of talent across the board the last few years. Much of which was sudden and unexpected.

A player taking an offer for more money from a team with a better chance to win immediately is not some condemnation on our team. The Raiders, Jags and Atlanta are spending big money because they have better situations and more winnable divisions. QB situations are set and they are gunning for it. That (and in most cases more money) is more attractive to free agents. Duh.

It's not some condemnation of our team or GM or HC. If you were offered multiple positions at different companies, if one company had a better track record of success historically, but was in a bit of tough spot, and the other companies offered more money and/or roughly equal money, but more chances for success in the short term, odds are you choose the other companies.

Player for player trades are rare. They're not giving us Talib. He's 30 years old anyway.

The FO is bad and has a bad rep. That is sure to turn people off then you throw in the Chip Kelly part which I'm sure plays a little into it.
Build through the desft has always been my philosophy. Plus a lot of these guys are getting way over paid
