You would give up our potentially top 5 pick for a 30 year old tackle when we may be 5 years away from being competitive?

Did I ever say 1st round pick?

And maybe if you improved your offensive line with arguably the best LT in the game who had been legit since the day he stepped on an NFL team it might not take so long to be decent

You're not getting one of the best offensive lineman in the league who is signed for 3 more years on a team friendly deal for a 2nd round pick. Thomas is worth a ton, but he's worth more to a team that is competitive than he is to the 49ers. Jork is a terrible owner, but I don't think he's stupid enough to throw away picks to try to win now.

It could be done for the right package and by throwing hes availbale out there all cleveland did was lower their bargaining power
The more and more I think about it, I just can't see us landing Mack.

If he comes back home to CA, it would be for the Chargers.

Much better Line, much better QB, better WRs.

Money Shouts!
We're not getting Joe Thomas. Davis and Staley are locked up for a few years and they like Brown. We're good at OT.

Our interest in Mack all depends on Kilgore's ability to return and play at a high level. If he doesn't, I fully expect us to bid for Mack.

Staley - LG (Boone) - OC (Kilgore) - Davis - Brown

Martin isn't very good. Thomas is a tackle and gets thrown around inside. Tiller showed promise at RG and could allow Davis to slide to LG...

Staley - Davis - Kilgore - Tiller - Brown

Pears and Devery need to go away. They're terrible.

If we can get Thomas for a 1st and 3rd
Or 1st and next years 2nd then I would definitely do it. Davis comes back we can move him inside and Staley to the right.

Getting Alex Mack would be huge. And guy went to school at Cal. So he can maybe give a small discount

But if we can somehow manage to get them 3 (including Davis) then we'll be set

I'm all for it. Do you expect Davis to come back and if so do you think the Niners would take him back? That could change the approach to the draft and FA as well. Staley, Kilgore, Mack, Thomas and AD looks pretty good on paper

I really hope that the 49ers can avoid that whole issue, maybe trade Davis if he decides to come back. If he flaked out once, there's no way of knowing if he'll flake out again and I don't want the team to be in that position again of having to depend on a guy who might just opt to quit again out of the blue.

Davis is unpredictable, he may come to camp and leave the same day.

Have you seen their record lately. The same team that might be moving.....or might not.......I'd say that the 49ers have about as good a shot as they do.
Alex Mack or bust this offseason IMO. We sign him, our weakness is instantly a strength. How many offensive lines in football have 3 players of the caliber of Staley, Mack and Davis anchoring it? Very few.
I'd much rather have Cordy Glenn and make him a guard next to Staley.

Let Boone walk. He sucks.

yeah I agree about Boone, I'd be more than happy to move on from him

and I think LG may be our most pressing need, followed closely by C and RG
bring him in and Move Kilgore to Guard
