They played together at penn state. it's going to be a seamless transition. a real bond and nucleus that you can see already that he never really had with wilhoite.

Didn't know they played together in college but very excited to see them play the rest of the year side-by-side. Go Hodges!

That said, every dog has his day, even Terry Donahue had a few good picks in the later rounds, but does that make him a good GM? I understand, you can't blame Baalke for all the departures and chaos but this roster is his baby. The depth is lacking, free agency signings and trades leave a lot to be desired. Don't get me wrong, Baalke's had some good days, but he has had a lot more bad days lately and should be held accountable. You can defend him all you want, but I'm not going to be an apologist for him, and if that means a few dumb comments, then so be it. Can you name another GM still employed who whiffed on an entire draft, like Baalke did in 2012? A lot of the problems this team is experiencing is a direct result from that draft class, or lack there of.
The depth is lacking? The reason we could let Frank go, trade VD and two other TEs, etc. is BECAUSE we had depth. A lot of it.
You sure are right about injuries though. We ended last year with 19 on I.R. My guess is were getting close to that again.
Someone had seriously put a curse on us.
Edit. Just counted. Looks like we have about 13 players on I.R.

Hodges was a backup safety as a freshman during Bowman's final year there so they definitely knew each other back then.

Yep and they are both penn state alumni.

greg cosell confirmed what others are already saying, hodges is better than wilhoite, wilhoite is a solid player but hodges is an upgrade.

I wonder if this kid really is better than Skov.. I remember Skov having a great pre season, but somehow, Hodges who we got from a trade suddenly just out learned and out leaped Skov to become a starter..

Well its not like hodges came out of nowhere. they traded for him, he has starting experience and is more athletic.

Needs to play a little more disciplined in his reads, but when he makes a mistake, it's at full speed. he's better than Willhoite right now, and he's got a lot of room to get better.

Wow, ok... TE Asante Cleveland to Patriots for OL Jordan Devey, Vernon Davis and a 7th for two 6th rounders. Don't recall saying that keeping ten TEs was a good idea, but whatever... Forgive my dumb comment, I was about due.
Stats-wise he is still BS.

Obviously a lot will depend on our new HC and what D we'll run but how does everyone feel about Hodges going into next year? Starter going in if/when we remain in the 3-4? I think a full offseason training with Bowman could be huge

meh...He's servicable, but I'm hoping Baalke can find a gem in the later rounds like he did with Bow, Lynch, Borland.

I am excited to see Hodges growth in 2016.
We may have ourselves a tandem once again.
