Doubt it.

No doubt, if we keep a 6th, big if, it'll come down to Smelter (outside size/RZ/blocking), Bolden (package WR/returner), Tim Patrick (outside size/speed/clay mold) and Bourne (decent size/smooth).

I don't think Burbridge has a shot. He struggles outside for sure and our gunners change every year.

Nope. He's still around so the DBs can practice against a big WR
8. Barkley's best throw came on a pass down the left sideline to DeAndre Smelter.

I've always pulled for Smelter due to his overall athletic ability and the fact that his baseball chances were ruined by injury. Here's his draft profile:

"Smelter is an uber-athlete with a background of excellence in every sport he has played. He plays well beyond his experience level at wide receiver. His toughness, natural instincts and football intelligence should earn him a spot on a depth chart, provided there are no lasting effects from his ACL tear."

Oh Lawd!

I'm a GA Tech fan so I'd love to see him make the team. He's got great rac ability, can make contested catches and has hands the size of baseball gloves. His biggest setback pre injury has always been how green he still is to football and route running in general. He was in such a confined route tree at Ga Tech.

Sometimes it's hard to seep through all the jumbled up off-season optimism to get an idea of who actually stands to make the team and who has just won a few beat writers over, but I'd love to see this be one case where some of that hype still has him wearing red and gold in September.

For real. If he makes the team, he'll certainly have earned it. No doubt he's got a skill set Kyle wants outside so it will just be up to him if it's enough to keep on the 53 and contribute.

If guys like Smelter, Redmond, Tank start being contributors, I'd like Lynch to start his own ACL crew. Smelter will get the best WR coaching he's ever had. Hopefully it speeds up the learning he has to do with route running.

Imagine how bitter he'd be if all these dudes pan out after he's gone lol

Truth!

That said, I'm not confident he'll make it.
