49ers reportedly were close to signing Emmanuel Sanders

The draft is supposedly deep but the current front office doesn't have a good track record when it comes to drafting/evaluating receivers. All but one of the Receivers Baalke has drafted or signed in free agency has sucked. Only Boldin helped the team.. Look how long it took for Baalke to admit Kyle Williams sucks or that loser we signed from Miami last yr..

Patton could develop but so far the jury is still out on him since he missed so many games his rookie season.

If the Niners want a receiver I would prefer they trade up high in the first rd rather then hope another late rd project will turn to gold.
Still hoping for a miracle trade for Watkins, even if it is the slimmest chance ever. Not a big fan of Evans myself but I won't be overly mad if we traded up for him.
I'd rather take Lance Moore and a draft pick.

Exactly what are you basing that on, particularly the draft part?

I dont agree with the free agent part, but drafting? Its really bad...

WR drafted since 2004:

Rashaun Woods
Derrick Hamilton
Rasheed Marshall
Marcus Maxwell
Brandon Williams
Jason Hill
Josh Morgan
Michael Crabtree
Kyle Williams
Ronald Johnson
A.J. Jenkins
Quinton Patton

I see 1 above average player, 1 guy we dont know the potential of yet, and 10 piles of hot poo. The only reason we even have Crabtree is because the Raiders are total morons.

I think our track record of being bad at drafting and developing WR is pretty apparent. Heck, you can go back quite a while and not find much outside T.O. and Brandon Lloyd.
Sanders is good, but I would have much rather had Thurmond shoring up the CB position. I'm actually surprised the 49ers dabbled in the WR market as much as they did.

Yep, it's the deal we made with the Devil in getting his tips that let us to drafting the GOAT.
i don't buy that report at all. # yr $24 mil?? I just don't see us throwing that kind of $$ range at a guy wit ha screw in ea of his feet. I'd see us throwing more $$ at a DB over that. Given the deepness of the draft too
Didn't he sign a 3 year 15 million dollar deal with Denver? There is no way then we offered him a 3 year 24 million dollar deal and he rejected it lol.
If they would have gave him that type of money then that would have been the end of Crabtree being a 49er!!!

Now compare this list to the remaining 31 teams in the NFL.

The lesson? Hitting on ANY draft pick is difficult, and something hardly unique to the 49ers.
