Shefter
Thank god we didn't, I want them to re-sign their own the next couple of years. Plus they should take advantage of the WR draft class.

Wish they would have matched Thurmond to the Giants though. Baalke's expertise seems to be long limbed above average size.

What pisses me off about Sanders to the Broncos is that he had a deal to go to KC, who really needs a WR and likely to select one in front of the 9ers in the draft. Eventhough he had a deal to go to KC, he selected the Broncos the last second.

that was actually from the fake Shefter twitter account....I RT it because I was a bit shocked we gave him $8M/year over 3 years, then clicked on the account 2 see if AS had anything more to say about it & realized it was the fake account. AB & I were both on twitter fooled for a second about it.

the real facts are we were never in the running at all. He cancelled his visit here, his agent is a total scumbag & after agreeing with a offer in KC he shopped that deal (breaking an unwritten NFL rule) with the Bucs and Broncos w/o telling them he agreed 2 it & signed in Denver.
I wanted him but that would be too much.

f**k him. why over pay for middle of the road talent when you can get one or two good guys in the draft? you got plenty of time to bring in a cheap vet if you want bodies to compete. i think baldwin, patton, rookies and whoever else we may sign will or should get the pre season work so we do not over use our key guys in boldin and crabs. of course if we sign a cheap vet for competition it will make the chris cook conversation seem like a restrained tea time luncheon

So why was this to important for the Sanders thread in the FA forum and needed its own thread in Niner Talk?

i spent more time fretting if the team was going to resign dawson then i ever did worrying about what new free agent we would sign
Not sure how valid that claim is...especially given Tampa and KC thought they had an agreement, but Sanders' agent just leveraged each offer against the next one. During that process, they summarily cancelled the visit to SF. Those tactics could come back to bite that agent...while it's true "it ain't over 'til it's over" there's also a thing called ethics that seem to have been abused in that process.

as any reasonable 49er fan would. these fans flipping out should find another team to cheer for. they're coming off as packer fans and steeler fans who have no clue how their team is ran. this is the way we run our team. seattle is a year or two behind in terms of contracts than we are. 2 years from now they'll be in our position. even now on their board their fans are finally realizing now that they're good, its about keeping your guys and drafting well while adding the odd free agent but not many.
I'll pass for 3 years 24 million. Also, why is Sander's agent verbally agreeing to multiple teams? Could deter us and other teams from working with that agent and his clients in the future.

He's got a total of 2 clients, I think this incident will hurt him far worse than it helps. I'm sure he'd try to justify it as "a good agent will do whatever he can to get the best amount for his client" but thats not how you do business, you don't give a commitment to one team and then continue to shop around afterwards, at some point teams will make it known that they won't deal with this guy anymore and whatever remaining clients he has will be forced to fire him.
Adam Schefter ‏@AdamSchefter 1m Denver is giving former Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders a 3-year, $15M contract. Team announced agreement.

3 years 15 mil, 3 years 24 mil I'll pass. With this deep draft we can find a WR to compete with Patton for the #3 spot and we can find a WR to compete with Baldwin for the 5th spot. I guess 3 years is better than 1 though, I get they want to build the best team possible that year but like I have said I'd rather start letting our young guys have a chance and get some continuity at spots like WR. 1 year deals sure might help this year but then they leave for more money and you have to keep re-starting over and over. It's fine for like a backup QB or a backup OLB but with WR we need them to get chemistry with Kap and continue to build it on it.
