Rice never threw the fans, coaches and QB's under the bus ...yes he had his competitive side, but never to the point where he was labeled a locker room distraction, Rice cared about winning and had a fire inside of him ...after awhile, T.O stopped being a team player and was all about T.O

Um, ask Steve Young if he felt like Rice threw him under the bus. Willing to bet the answer there would have been a "hell yes". And the fans threw T.O. under the bus, not the other way around.

Jerry and Young's relationship was absolutely nothing like any of the dysfunctional relationships that TO created with EVERY one of his QB's.

I remember one of the knocks against him early was his speed. He spent the whole offseason training, and you could see a huge difference the next season. He wasn't a 1st round pick or a "sure thing" NFL receiver. He worked hard and earned what he got. Owens says give me the ball, and we'll win. He's labeled a selfish player. Owens has an issue with his Quarterback, and he's labeled a locker room cancer.

I remember another 49er with an incredible work ethic. He also said give me the ball and we'll win - and more loudly than Owens did. He also had a huge issue with his Quarterback - a HOFer by the way, not Jeff Garcia. His name is Jerry Rice.

In what way was TO treated badly?
Saints have signed back Goodwin so he should be happy about that. I thought he would generally be backup C/OL but it sounds like he will have a good chance to start. I hope he is when we have to play them on the road (again) so our front 7 can abuse his ass & we win the game we got f**king robbed of.

Too bad they didn't sign him a few days ago so he could count as a net loss in the compensatory pick formula.

Yea but that is exactly why they waited. He visited the weeks if not months ago and already had it worked out.

yup , like comparing a fresh apple to a sour lemon ....but in T.O's defense, he was a solid guy the first few years, loved the guy and his hard play, but somewhere along the way, T.O became a diva ..the sharpie, the pom poms , the dallas star incident (love that one I gotta admit ) ...but he really wore everybody out towards the end with his antics, I was waiting for the old T.O to come back, but sadly, he was a lost cause, and it sucks because when he left , we really needed the firepower

why?

That dude is old and he sucks. What about Steve Gregory, he's at least younger and graded out as a top 25 Safety.

I'll admit I have a soft spot for Mike Adams. I'm from Delaware and he played at the University of Delaware, I was ecstatic when the 49ers got him the 1st time. He's not great or anything but he's reliable, doesn't make mental mistakes. Right now behind Reid/Bethea we don't have great depth, Spillman is good in the RZ and I'd personally like to keep Ward as the nickle CB and not need to use him at safety if one of the starters go down. Would be nice to add some competition to Dahl.
Mike Adams! That dude had a ton of heart. He's a better player now than he was then. Wouldn't be bad for competition. I think he could beat out Dahl.
