true,,, lets see what wright has first before we cut the man.
Totally agree, but if they are to add Wright to the 53 man roster someone has to go. But yeah...we don't even know that Wright is an upgrade over Nnamdi.

have always been a Brock believer and I'm happy he is finally proving himself...and I hear good things about Wright...our GM has been trying to get him for a while now.
but that being said I wish we could still keep Nnambi (just in case of an injury), and release one of our backup scrub safeties. I'd rather have Nnambi fill in at Free Safety for Eric Reid than GARBAGE ASS Craig Duhl. We ain't paying Nnambi s**t...heck I think Duhl is getting more money.

Should have traded him for a 7th rounder while we had the chance.

He'll be claimed on waivers by someone like the Saints or Redskins and we'll be facing him. Makes little sense to me to cut Asomugha when you can cut Dobbs. Dobbs isn't a NT and he isn't a 3-4 defensive end. He's a 4-3 DE that has little to no value on the 49ers roster. Cornerbacks are in large demand in the NFL.

makes no sense whatsoever.
another case of letting the writers decide roster spots.

Yeah dumb move cutting Asomugha. Dude is still good. Not great, but he's good. People think he's garbage for some reason, but he only gave up like 6 catches in 3 games for us. Not sure Eric Wright, Carlos Rogers, and Perrish Cox are better. Nnamdi can still have good success if you let him play press coverage.

Too bad he did not pick the Saints over the 9ers, Cooper would still be here.

This was pretty much inevitable. Can't keep Cox, Morris, Wright, Rogers, Brock, Brown AND Asomugha, that would just be ridiculous.

Steelers could use him. Their secondary is garbage.

I also didn't agree on releasing Asomugha (although I have no say lol), he could've helped in the secondary, at the very least at FS which was his position in college also. So you have 7 CB's big deal, its not like he had a big contract.

Not a big deal, we could always bring him back if someone gets injured or if Wright sucks.

Asomugha isn't known for his solid tackling technique. He'd be great as a coverage safety, but a liability in the run game. Not worth it. We have Reid.

You can't have 7 CB's without pulling depth from other area's. Not like Asomugha was going to play anyways, plus he doesn't do special teams, so were the 49ers going to need another sideline cheerleader or what? Wright supposedly has been lights-out in practice and also is a high quality veteran CB.
