Victor Cruz come salsa dance in SF

And from what I hear, there is already a ton of interest and plenty of teams just waiting for their opening. Yes, it's tough to gauge a market on slot guys like Wes Welker, Danny Amendola and Cruz -- especially in systems that so clearly benefit them. But there is enough interest in Cruz to make me think this could be the year someone bites on an RFA. And if no one takes the plunge on Cruz? Then it may be time to wonder how effective this system really is.

I think we'll be going after Cruz. He has killed us in the past, he's young, and his ability to get open is as good as anyone's in the league. He'll probably cost us the #31, but with another pick right behind it, it's almost transparent. Plus, we were (most likely) going to use an early draft pick on a WR anyway, so we essentially gain that pick for another player. Crabtree and Cruz would be a headache for any D-coordinator. This isn't a Madden pipe dream. We're actually in the perfect situation to make this deal happen. I think the catch will be what kind of contract he's looking for.

He will cost us a first round pick and a crap load of money that could go to someone like Crabtree, Aldon, Iupati or Anthony Davis, we cant sign our own guys if we sign high priced Free agents. I dont think we are going to be big players in free agency for a while. Baalke will continue to build through the draft and sign veteran Free agents on low money deals

you don't think eli manning is going to push the front office to come to terms with his favorite target?
I would rather have Victor Cruz at age 25-28 making $6mill per than have the #31 pick in this draft. We faced this same dilemma last year when we shoulda gave the Steelers #30 overall for Mike Wallace. Instead we ended up with some puny, slow twig named AJ Jenkins.

No way Cruz only gets 6 mil per year

his contract could be loaded with signing bonus and structured to only hit around 6M on the cap. It is very possible, especially with the release of either Manningham or KW, whichever is more severely injured.
If we could give up our second and third and keep kc and Carolina's 2nd and third I think it would work! Maybe a fifth to sweeten the deal. Crabtree , Cruz , cribbs , Jenkins and Williams sounds legit!!
Hell yeah give him Alex&Manninghams $ for a signing bonus giants cant match..cut mario give the gmen pick 31 and Lets roll

BRB, trade a 1st round pick for a guy the Giants pulled off the scrap heap.....strategy for winning football.

Yeah, adding a 26 year old pro bowl WR is a terrible strategy...

Oh MAN, you're RIGHT. Championships are ALWAYS won in March, damn, what was I thinking. Good teams don't find their own gems in the draft, they go and overpay for players that other teams have found. Its always worked so well for teams like the Redskins and the Eagles. Thanks for correcting me and my crazy weird idea of building a team through the draft rather than free agency.

And of course you always, always, always give up 1st round picks, I mean, they're virtually useless, let some other team worry about scouting and drafting properly and stuff, what's the best they can hope to do, get quality players whose contracts are highly affordable for four or five years? I mean really, who needs that?

You've shown me the light, let's sign anybody and everybody, gonna go HAM up in March and win it big in January! I'm in!

For how many years exactly? At some point that contract will jump, its inevitable. Just like the deal that Vincent Jackson signed with Tampa Bay. He made 12 million this past season, will make 4 million this season, and then his cap number jumps to $12 million for another 3 seasons and because of the signing bonus, they take a huge hit if they try to cut him anytime before the final season of the contract.
49ers extending and offer to cruz?
