It comes down to the pattern of behavior. I really think the incedent at the airport was the nail in the coffin. If Godell didn't believe rehab had any impact on Aldon he was unlikely to consider it when handing down the suspension.
Smart move by him also waiting till after he said he was wrong about ray rice to suspend aldon for that length.
What are you talking about? NO charges were filed in the "incident" you described. It boiled down to some petty he said/she said stuff.
That's why the DA didn't press forward with charges, because it would've been laughed out of court.
Who cares? Stop making excuses for Aldon. Goodell does not care about the court of law, he cares about personal conduct. Unless you think the LAX was just completely fabricated by the TSA agents, then you have to admit that Aldon displayed poor judgement. The guy was already on thin ice, to exacerbate the situation even more by doing something stupid made it even worse.
It comes off as so apologetic and defensive when people say, "well, he didn't get charged", or "well, he's charges were reduced". That doesn't matter! Goodell does not care about the charges, he cares about the fact that Aldon put himself into bad situations in the first place!
Uh, it does matter because if someone is to be punished for a crime or misconduct.....then a probable instance of said misconduct should exist. Aldon is no angel, however, you are essentially defending Goodell's idiocy in that if he *thinks* you did something wrong he reserves the right to punish you regardless of the facts. That isn't his place.
As much as he may think he is, Goodell isn't God.
