it's a b***h move towards Garrard, who now has to play catch up wherever he goes to get a chance to start again.

Look for the 49ers, who recently cut Luke McCown’s brother, Josh, to consider pursuing Garrard. Ditto for the Dolphins, who have been forced to settle for Chad Henne. Other potential destinations include the Bills, Steelers (where he’d replace Leftwich again), Colts (if they think Garrard is better than Kerry Collins), Chiefs (where Matt Cassel is dinged up and the cupboard is bare behind him), Redskins (for obvious reasons), and Seahawks (ditto).

Can't fathom how McCown would be better than Garrard, but I guess this a way to eventually plug Gabbert in. Wonder if JDR's thinking is that while Garrard might not be spectacular he may not play poor enough to make the change midseason and not look like it's warranted...

Wonder if Jack forgot this is his last year on his deal. Guess he will replace Gruden in the ESPN booth next year.

Bring him in, let him learn the system, and if Alex gets off to a slow start in the first 4 games or so.

Or at least by the bye week (Week 7)
