Here is what is left I think:
Todd Collins (CHI)
Brodie Croyle (KC)
Jim Sorgi (NYG)
Charlie Frye (OAK)
Troy Smith (SF)
J.P. Losman (SEA)
And we have for RB's... Gore, Dixon and Hunter. Masoli is probably PS QB or RB.
These names make me
I actually they will wait until final roster cut downs to 53 players. Then they will get a cut player or poach someone off of a practice squad.

Colin Kaepernick might develop into a solid NFL quarterback, but he isn't close to being ready to play at this point. He is still very hesitant with his reads, and the uncertainty in the pocket results in errant throws. Granted, he didn't have a full offseason to acclimate to the pro game, but it's hard to imagine him getting up to speed over the course of the preseason to have a viable shot of taking significant snaps.
Two things:
1) If the Niners care at all about making the play-offs, they really should bring in a veteran QB who could be available to play a few games if/when Alex gets hurt.
2) Kap is talented, but RAW. I'd really like to let him have this year just to soak it all in.
3) The Niners really need a "Trent Dilfer" type player to mentor Kap. Smith is going to be busy prepping for the game throughout the week. Bringing in a veteran QB who can teach Kap who to prep, and help teach him the WCO would only help his progression.

don't take what that guy says serious...I mean read what he says about our Alex Smith. As well as other players.
again if this is a legit QB competition, Colin will beat out Alex...or at least give that impression on the field in front of everyone.
but yes I agree...I'd hate for Colin to start the season and do well, only to have him get injured...and whooops look who we have to rely on to keep us in the playoff chase.
I said this a couple of years ago when Shaun Hill beat out Alex....I would have rather have kept Damon Huard than Alex Smith......Shaun struggled alittle...and then Alex came in to play just well enough for us to lose, but well enough to be brought back...lol. it never ends.
but seriously, either way we need a legit backup QB..for both scenarios...if Alex struggles or if Colin struggles.

We really do need a veteran QB versed in the WCO. A rookie backup makes me really uncomfortable,

All of his observations seem pretty on point. I'm checking out training camp tomorrow to see how everything goes.
The worst thing we can do for Kap is to thrust him into the game like the 49ers did with Smith. Let him ride the pine and learn - give him a fair chance.

Haha! Thanks for the support. I lurked for a long time but the hysteria against the FO earlier this week was the final straw. I had to join.

Remember, it seems like a long time ago, but we had this Vet qb, not great, but a vet, you know Tim Rattay, and we drafted this raw but seemingly talented kid who played in a gimmicky offense, but we knew we could let him sit a season and learn, what happened then..... Nolan could hold his water and had to toss Smith to the lions! I KNOW Harbaugh will be more patient, he will Kap learn, and evaluate him, I bet we even draft another QB next year, build a stable of young guns, I'm sure Balke is looking right now for a bargain on a Vet, to place between Alex, Kap, and the starting slot. I really don't care that much who we sign, I just hope it is a 10 year plus vet who can come in and play if Alex implodes.

Jeff Garcia???
Jeff Garcia was struggling in the UFL but could be a nice mentor. Forgot to add to my list Jake Delhomme but not sure if he had any WCO experience.

Good point, I believe we'll sign one during the pre season. Probably a vet. Just wait till teams start unloading players.

Brian Brohm for back up QB. Has also spent time in the WCO with Green Bay.
