because we really dont know what we have in him. He had a good year one and then a bad year the next. But before that, he was showing a lot of promise. It's possible that last year was just a bad year with a bad coach and a bad defensive scheme.

At this point I don't think there's a chance he gets top safety money. I'm not a huge fan of his, but he does have potential. he's better than what we have, and he can be coached up.

Franklin must have gotten no offers from other clubs, why would he want to come back to the 49ers? I thought it was a fore-gone conclusion he was toast.

Screw Soap as NT the guy has no instincts or leverage to be a nose guard. Let him back up Franklin and rotate with with McDonald at LDE. Have Soap and McDonald battle it out for the starting gig at LDE. We need to get Franklin in camp and happy to be there. Now if we can only get Lawson back to improve our speed at OLB ill be happy.
