Ideal FA pick-ups

Look, I know we weren't gonna get Nnadmi/Joseph, or another high priced FA this offseason, but this whole "Do Nothing" approach by the Front Office is not only a disrespect to this team, but also to it's fans.

It's not like we were a playoff-caliber team, we are rebuilding under a new regime and require some glimmer of hope towards the future. A "better chance @ Luck" is disgusting for everyone who shovels out $64 a game and deserve something to watch.

What I am hoping for is that our "slow approach" is b/c our coaching staff is measuring out our talent and will fill in the holes after their assessments.

With that little rant aside, here's what I would like the 49ers to do, in order, while not going "outlandish":

1a. Sign Kreutz: This is PRIORITY #1!!! Need a center who can not only hold his own but make the rest of the line better with him. How about a 6-time Pro-Bowler who's been in both a run-oriented and pass-happy offensive sets?

1b. Restructure Gore: No brainer. He needs to get in ASAP!!!!!!!!!!

2. Sign Cromartie: Losing out on Carr and Marshall (super-pissed about marchal) makes us desperate. Look, he's had a falling out with the Jets, and he would immediately become our #1 CB. He's big, physical, and has quickness. Only flaw he has is the occassional stunt and studder, but overall upgrades our secondary drastically. Also, not bad in run support.

3. Sign Donte Whitner: Goldson is not as good as he thinks he his and should be getting overpaid somewhere else. Huff would be nice, but Whitner is a real "ballhawk" that we haven't had since last millennium. Yes, he might cost a bit, but he has a real track record. We have enough run defense, need a pass defense.

4. Sign Floyd/Edwards: We need a tall target and will be missing Crabtree. Not dying over not getting either as long as we get the other 4. Can always snag a substitute WR until Crabtree gets back.

Good list, except I would omit Cromartie and Edwards.

I rather allow Spencer, Brown, and Culliver compete with a mid-level CB signing than sign an overpaid chump like Cromartie. Plus, he doesn't really fit the mold of a 49er player...so I don't know if our interest in him is genuine as reporters indicate in their columns.

And hell no to Edwards...unless it is a cheap contract. If Crabtree's lack of attention to catchable balls irritates you, then Edwards would be 2x more.

Bigtime. Even if we got Carlos Rogers instead of Cromartie I would forgive Baalke.

Definitely wouldn't be mad about that

I'm just curious why we wouldn't be pushing for Whitner with our lack of safeties

IMO Reggie Smith & Taylor Mays are a solid tandum at Safety, I think we're gonna roll with that pair this year.
