LaConfora just said on NFLN that the Niners are after Cromartie and he should be making a decision by the end of the day. So, we should be getting some action today, one way or other.
You sure, because I was watching and they were only talking about the hall of fame.
I trust mayo
The Jets are "closing in" on a deal with free agent CB Antonio Cromartie, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
We'll be interested to hear the contract numbers on this one. After losing out on Nnamdi Asomugha, the Jets were desperate to bring back Cromartie. They paid just $3 million for their No. 2 receiver and already had cleared out heaps of cap space in the Asomugha chase. Cromartie may have landed himself $10 million per season

i think best bet is to sign carlos rogers and some other 2nd tier cb and take our hits this year in our secondary and hopefully try to rebuild next year
That was from earlier in the day. The 49er thing today is recent.

He cant tackle for s**t and rarely wants to make a hit anyway. We got enough DBs that cant tackle why overpay for Cromartie?

If the JETS pay Cromartie $10mil a season... THEY CAN HAVE HIM. He's not worth $10mil a season. Asante Samuels is out there for $5mil, and if we package him with Carlos Rodgers, we are in much better shape than last season.

As long as the Yorks own this team, no one will want to play here.

the yorks will own the team even if they move to LA
would you think people would want to play for them then?

Sadly Cromartie could make the difference of up to 4 wins for the niners since there secondary currently is thin and bad. I don't think there is another team in the league that has a secondary that is worse than what's on our roster currently.

I don't think it's the York's personally. We have never had issues bringing in free agents in the past. Jed said we would not be big players in free agency this year. I think we will sign a corner to fill Nate's place, get a center, resign Franklin, and then sort through the scraps from there.

not sure why anyone here wants crommartie, hes on record as saying hes not taking a discount to stay anywhere, hes chasing loot (rightfully so with how many kids he has) and if we want him we gonna have to overpay for him

I`ll give you the simple answer to why everybody wants Cromartie: We don`t have f**k all of a secondary, and he would be a HUGE upgrade.

so why overpay for a player? u want the clements scenario all over again? i know we need db's, but gettin in a bidding war for him is not worth it, rather sign 2 lesser cb's and coach them up than have a 10 mil per yr corner

Jets, Raiders in pursuit of CB Cromartie
By Jason La Canfora |
Published: July 31st, 2011 | Tags: Antonio Cromartie, New York Jets, Nnamdi Asomugha, Oakland Raiders
The Raiders and Jets continue to negotiate with CB Antonio Cromartie, according to a league source.
A third team could be involved as well, but the Jets and Raiders have displayed the most interest.
Cromartie is back on the Jets’ radar after their failed pursuit of ex-Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha, who agreed to sign with the Eagles on Friday.
Cromartie recorded 42 tackles and three interceptions in 15 starts for the Jets last season.
nowhere does it say 49ers. I'm starting to believe that this ownership and FO are taking us fans for fools. another PR ploy. nicely done 4949 centennial blvd
