If I had to guess, I think Floyd signs with us, it doesn't look as if we're gonna sign anyone to big contracts.

that is depressing considering we have like 20million in cap room.

I take that back, we are in a bidding war for Dashon "burnt toast" Goldson. Beginning to question Baalke as the man in charge.

I agree. What's with all this Plax love? Sure he was good, but he has been in prison for a few years... so not only has he been away from the game, but he is older. Who knows if he lost a step or not? Pretty risky.

Floyd averaged almost 20 yards per catch last year. He played in 11 games with 9 starts.

Stats:
Receptions: 37
Receiving yards: 717
Yards per game: 65.2 YPG.
Yards per catch: 19.4

If you project his stats out of a full 16 games.. you get the following:

54 catches for 1042 yards and 10 TDs.

Who was his QB though? Rivers was going for Dan Marino's record last year.

People keep saying this... It doesn't matter who his QB was. Guy still had to get open and make plays. Most QB's will get you the ball if you can do that. Just because Rivers is great doesn't mean that some other QB wouldn't be able to get the ball to Floyd.

Gates and Vince Jackson were primary targets before Floyd.

I agree. This guy is pretty productive, and with his height/weight/speed he has a skill set that none of our receivers possess.
we aint in the mix for anyone........don't fool yourselves.....

bul$HIT......

Yeah I would go: Plax ??????? People expect this to end up like the Vick story, but I don't. First, Vick didn't have to be fast right away, he still had an arm that could put a football through a battleship, and he wasn't an immediate starter. He had more offseason, and a better opportunity to ease back into football shape. He also didn't shoothimself in the thigh muscle. I don't care who you are, if you have a mass of scar tissue in the middle of your quadricep, you will run slower than you did w/a 100% healthy muscle. He is also 2 yrs older.

Floyd>Braylon>us now. Braylon catches w/his body too often, which makes him unreliable in traffic. He drops too many balls on the outside, too. Floyd wins on jump balls and in traffic, and he snatches the ball out of the air pretty aggressively when the play requires it.

You may be able to get Plax on the cheap. That's why he's a good option.

As far as straight talent and productivity, Braylon is way above Floyd - but he's going to look for a bigger contract.

Edwards is the most inconsistent, biggest problem of all the remaining options.

Lots of talent but lots of issues.

My thoughts exactly! We need a redzone target to at least help Vernon Davis. Plus, he has pretty good speed for his size.

Agree

According to the Newark Star-Ledger, the Jets' free agent options at receiver are Malcom Floyd, James Jones, and Braylon Edwards.
Noticeably absent: Randy Moss. Beat writer Jenny Vrentas concedes that Edwards may be too expensive, but that door hasn't been shut. This is the first we've heard of a Jets interest in Floyd, who has previously been connected to the Vikings and 49ers.

Round two Jets vs. 49ers.

Didn't they try to tamper between us and Crabtree at one point?
