There's your reasoning. Noobs takeover our forums like ants when it comes to Free Agency and the Draft.

I'd be happy if they pulled it off, and I'm glad they at least sent him an offer. But my sense is he doesn't want to leave Chicago, and as long as they can match our offer or come close, he'll stay. But you can't make a shot you don't ever take.

Someone tweeted he using the 49ers to leverage a better deal with Bears, i.e. he will re-sign with Chicago.

Sure, but it doesn't mean he won't sign with the 9ers if the Bears don't budge.

Kind of sad that the 49ers are nothing more than a form of leverage to free agents, as opposed to a team where they actually want to play.

With a few exceptions this is true for almost any team in the league. We have cap space and a need at a position. If the Eagles needed a Center, it would be the same thing, Kreutz and his agent using a team's need to generate leverage in a negotiation.
Just like Joseph's agent is using the need for CBs among teams to get the best offer, or Nnamdi's using the Texans to get the best deal.
