Because he was a lifelong Bear, and after they went out & spent on Roy Williams & Marion Barber, they don't have the cap space for him. The Bears also low-balled him. Now looking elsewhere & with the 49ers offer still on the table, looks promising for SF.

He didn't accpet the Bears offer, maybe thinks he can do better. But so far Niners looks like the only team interested in him.

If I was a NFL Player I would always want options...I would want money and want to start. So far Niners offered both better then bears.
