Takeo talking with San Diego, Seattle

I know how much he was loved by all especially here. However, I expect Fangio to use Bowman's speed and instincts as interchangeable ILBs in his blitzing D. Perfect, Spikes forced out hand with Bowman. Given that he's played OLB well, he can use that experience to come in on an inside blitz. He can contain. He can cover, but needs refinement. He can surely tackle.

The TED is up for grabs now. I expect Bowman to become our new TED.

I remember Kevin Kolb leaving him in the dust on a 3rd and long last year!
Not saying he can't be a good replacement. Just wished we saw more of it last year. Obviously, hope he's reedy for the challenge.
I love the optimism, but Bowman has to take a huge step forward if he wants to be a decent starter at Ted.

Spin things all you want to, Spikes was the better player last year and betting on Bowman is a gamble. The only question is whether we go after somebody more proven in FA.
I think Baalke, and Fangio told Spikes what's gonna happen to this defense (massive rebuild/reformation of defensive philosophy/roster), and that was more than enough for Spikes to instantaneously listen to other offers.

So Spikes going to SD was somewhat a match made in heaven (back with Manusky, on a playoff-caliber team).
Thanks for a great effort Takeo. You will be missed.
SD press release includes intriguing Spikes quote on Chargers QB Rivers: 'I've never had the luxury of having a point man like that who not only plays well, he challenges everybody else to play to a higher level around him.' per Dan Brown

Ouch.

Again, like I said earlier, this all came down barely a half-hour after Alex agreed to terms of that new contract!

LOL ok but I think Spikes would have gone to SD regardless. It's a better situation regardless of the QB in SF.
