Yep and he helped take his team to the Super Bowl! Were they got robbed by the refs. My dislike for Pittsburgh is greater than my dislike for Seachickens!

@MaioccoCSN RT @DJoseph830 Steve Young reporting Matt Hasselback could land in SF? >Steve knows Hasselbeck's agent, David Dunn, very well.

If we bring in Hassleback I'm not so sure that Alex resigns with us. He's going to get starter money too so I don't expect both to be with us.
I'd rather just go with Alex. Matt's a short term solution while Alex could still turn into a long term solution.

I have been optimistic every year for the past 5 years about Alex, and he has yet to stand in the pocket and deliver

I don't think the salaries would be a problem. Maiocco showed recently that Kap's 2011 money is around 1 million... Alex is looking at 4-5 million... maybe the same for Hass, and both are likely shorter term deals.

Hasselbeck turned down 7 million before the lockout

If matt shows interest it's probably just to get seattle to pay more, like kurt did

I agree. Looking at both players you can't sign them to long term deals. One due to age and the other due to what has happened. Why not bring them both in and may the best man win.
With that said will Hasselbeck, a veteran QB, come if he is not guaranteed the starting job.

Still a lot to spend on two less than mediocre options.
It'd shock the s**t out of me if it happens.
However, I wouldn't be unhappy about it if we sign both. They are two of the better FA QBs on the market, IMO. Would be as good a situation as we could hope for.
Just have to make sure we re-sign Alex, though. I don't like the idea of him taking that playbook to a division rival.

hmmm... good point. Well, SF should offer 5 with starter incentives... take it or leave it.
