Terrell Owens is going to sign with the....

We have guys in the locker room that are buying into the coach's passion and motivation... TO has never done that. How many highlights are there of him standing outside of huddle when teams are rallying before and after practices getting all psyched up and he is just in his "whatever" mode. This is a young team with a fragile dynamic, and there is no need to risk the long term potential of this team and locker room for the short term benefits TO could provide.

All these thoughts about adding receivers like TO or Lloyd or whoever else comes up over the season is fun to think about, but when planning for the future of this team there is no need to introduce these types of personalities into a locker room due to the very legit risk it will infect other players and cause division amongst the team.

You make good points to be concerned over, but you also make it sound like you're not really expecting much from THIS season. That outlook plays a huge part in such a decision.

(that's just my thoughts while reading your post, and again, I'm not 100% on this "bring T.O. back" wagon)

Do you really want TO around Crabtree, just when it looks like Crabs is heading in the right direction?

And also consider this: Owens will not sign for a team to be the #3. Im a HELL NO to Owens anyways.

Don't know why people make this assumption, maybe because they heard it from somebody else and are just perpetuating.

For a player who obviously wants to come back to the NFL and is obviously a long shot to do so, I think Owens would be more than happy getting signed as a number 3 wide receiver. The other thing I will say is the man can block. Does he help this team though? I don't know, he'd help at receiver but he's a risk to the chemistry this team already has.

But saying he wouldn't sign as a number three, with no other means to back this statement up, is just unintelligent.

Ok, then enlighten me genius? What else do I need as backup other than his attitude and history. There re other teams out there that clearly need a starting WR, and you think he's going to sign with us to be a #3?? Ok, maybe, just maybe he's seeing the end of his NFL career and will sign with a contender for a chance at a SB, but IMO he hasn't changed one bit. Can he block? I don't know? I know he used to be able to block. I'm not sure how well anyone can block on a repaired knee at his age.

I can actually say you thinking he will sign as a #3 is pretty unintelligent. What reasons are you using to backup your statement? Have you heard of the statement "history will repeat itself"? Or is this still too "unintelligent" for you?
Would I love to see TO playing for the 9ers? Only if he had an attitude transplant...which is not going to happen. Sad because we could really use him.

Speculation.

Have always said "no thanks"... but I tell ya, it's tempting.

I thought we were a fringe playoff team at best... but we may be more than that. So I ask myself... if motivated and with his mind right... could Owens help push us to ring #6? Imagine defenses trying to cover Braylon, Crabtree, Owens, VD, and still contending with our run game.

I mean... is Delanie Walker > Terrell Owens ??? I think not, and it's not a close call by any stretch of the imagination.

- So is Harbaugh strong enough to keep Owens in line?
- Are Crabtree, VD, and Edwards tolerant enough... and wise enough to appreciate the big picture... in accepting Owens here?
- Will Owens accept and understand that most passes won't be going his way... that he is just a smaller piece to the puzzle?
- Will Harbaugh and Fangio want to alter their O-schemes to accommodate?
- Does Owens still possess the talents that he once did?

If these 5 questions come back with YES answers... and Owens' contract demands are reasonable... heck, why not? Bring him on!

With these caveats answered in the affirmative...it would be a possibility, and the contract language in your other post makes it more tempting. Just hate to see the building chemistry on this team take a hit if TO starts calling Smith Alice in the huddle.

FYI - Don't assume anything on NT or people will say youre unintelligent.
Many of you on the zone weren't around when the human disease called TO was a Niner. He started out great and then after JRice left he destroyed the locker room. Let's see, He went to Philly,Dalla, Cinn and they all said, "ENOUGH" One of the GRAT things about our team is NO DIVA BS that destroys teams. Think abput this, If TO would make a big difference in a team WHY hasn't anyone picked that negative scumbag up?

Just saying you shouldn't make a declarative statement that you have no way of knowing, worse thing about it is that you make the statement in a judgmental way. You then come at me like some insecure school yard bully.

Last year signed with the Bengals and became the #1 WR, but he sure didn't sign as the #1 WR for the Bengals. You need facts, your history was based on the fact that he was a #1 WR. Even our great JR signed with the Seahawks at the end of his career just to keep playing, and he was not the #1 WR.Try not to think so linearly, rarely is cause and effect so easy.

If you just spout off on what you feel like is going on your going to end up sounding like Jason LaConfora.

edit: Oh and I totally forget, you expect him to sign as a #1 WR, when he's gotten no attention all year and approaching mid season, yet your not sure he can block at all because of his knee?

I think his knee surgery had something to do with that, He was cleared medically yesterday. Call me crazy but I think may be the reason why he hasnt signed with anybody yet

This is exactly it! Deep down, would I love for TO to come home and win a SB in a fairy tale type ending? Absolutely! People are just assuming that he has changed or can be controlled by Harbaugh. We are a team thats just starting to win and do not need to take any chances like this. Every team that's signed him assumed he will change and all but 1 (Bengals) were wrong. BTW, how did the Bengals do last year? Granted his attitude was better last year, but IMO it's because Palmer was constantly feeding him the ball.
It's hard to get my mind around T.O. coming back. There would never be enough balls to go around to keep Vernon, Frank, Crabtree and Edwards involved and engaged in the offense. Only an injury to Crabtree or Edwards would make the move plausible . . . so hopefully we don't see him back.
I would actually like to see him back .but I know he would be back to his old tricks and crying for the ball and distract the offense once again.

But I know that the defense would respect him if lined up in the slot for us ...in a perfect world T.O would come back and go out strong as a 49er , but dont see it happening
We need. O

Exactly! Crabs and Edwards have both missed games already, we have a chance to make a run this year and we need another WR.
