Are the Niners really intrested in Palmer?

Or is it just media hype? I have heard it mentioned a few times but He really isnt known as a WCO guy and he isnt very mobile. I personally dont see the fit.

Bengals | Carson Palmer still working out
Sat, 16 Jul 2011 23:03:50 -0700

Cincinnati Bengals QB Carson Palmer confirmed to reporters Friday, July 15, that he continues to have the same throwing program this offseason than he has had in the past. He is expected to retire if he is not traded by the Bengals. The leading contenders for his services are the Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks.

Nope, they just throw our name in there because his wife is from SF.
ya i havent heard anything
They could be. It depends on if Harbaugh really thinks Kaepernick has a chance to be a starter this year or not. If he doesnt think hes ready then they could try to get Palmer, release Carr, and then let Alex and Palmer fight it out for starter. Which Palmer would win.
God I hope so.
I could be wrong, but I have a gut feeling 9ers will not sign Palmer, stick with Smith under center next year and let him mentor Colin. No empirical proof on this, just a hunch.

I'm with you on this. I think that he still has gas in the tank and would be a great addition to the roster - let him battle it out.

I don't doubt that there's interest from our team, but I doubt they'll get into a bidding war with Miami or Seattle. Trust me, I'd love to be proven wrong on this, would love to have Carson Palmer as our starting QB, but I just don't see it happening.

Besides, how can any team be leading contenders if the owner says time and time again that he is not trading Carson Palmer???

No sarcasm intended, but I suspect the 9ers resign Smith, Smith is our starter, and he mentors CK. The articles I've read appear to be contrary to this, but that's just my gut feeling. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong and the 9ers get an experienced and successful QB.

This. I don't see us overpaying to get him when we have a QB of the future on the roster.

I think he meant it being "just a hunch" and thats theres a lot of proof of what you said happening.

When someone offers the Bengals next year's first and second round picks, or successive first round picks for the next two years, Palmer will be traded.
I don't think that Harbaugh has meetings with smith and hands him a playbook (then he is the on holding practices) considering he is a free agent if they weren't certain that Smith was there guy for at least this year.
no clue if we're interested but something tells me he'd do really well in the WCO. quick release, smart, veteran
