NFL Live's Post-Lockout Top Priority for the 49ers

According to "NFL Live" this afternoon, they think that the 49ers' top priority after the lockout ends should be to sign Bengals' CB Jonathan Joseph.

If I was the 49ers GM, I'd make him a top priority as well and let Goldson walk.

CB: Spencer
CB: Joseph
FS: Clements
SS: Smith/Mays
Outside of securing some of our FA's this would be up their on my list if we have the money. He isn't going to cost what Nnamdi would and is still a great player for less money. If we go cheaper than it would be Richard Marshall or Ike Taylor. I believe Carlos Rogers is also out there... not a bad player decent, probably a slight upgrade that should be cheap.

Outside of that Cullen Jenkins would be up there. Doubt GB lets him go though. would make an excellent DE. On a lesser note Kris Jenkins but he is up there in age and has health issues. Still would be an ok replacement for Franklin for a year or two. Other than that there are some WRs and a bunch of FBs out there but don't think we are in the market for them.

Joseph is a VERY solid CB. I would like for us to pick him up after we solidify our front 7.
I could go for that. Nice idea!

If Clements restructures his contract and JJ's asking price isn't top 5 money, then I agree top priority.

LCB: Clements
RCB: Joseph
NCB: Spencer

much better than:

LCB: Clements
RCB: Spencer
NCB: Brown

bump Nate back to FS and have Culliver play NCB

I'd rather have Culliver play FS, he was an All SEC FS in college, and at this point Clements is much better at CB than Culliver is.

Maybe it's just me, but I think Clements should be in the slot.
Clements isnt moving to safety
I would love for the team to get Joseph! I would think they will go hard after a CB.
Matthias Kiwanuka, DE Giants. Has been a successful edge rusher, and used to play LB on passing downs (to blitz) under Spags when the Giants had Strahan, Tuck, and Osi. That should reflect good versatility, and I'd take him coming off the edge over Parys any day. Not dominant, but should not have a crazy price tag. I also like Joseph or the guy from Carolina at CB. Gonna have to spend money with the new CBA, lets get some players.

Yeah right. Joseph will probably command $7-$8M/yr, whether he's worth that is the question.
Get joseph, and our pass rush will increase 9%
If we cant get joseph or nmandi i guess we could try cromartie....he seems to do well against speed guys such as moss and that is the area our cbs struggle most. Clements is very good against great slowr guys like fitz so cromartie would be a good third option to nmandi and joseph
