Alex Smith in Free Agency

I'm getting so sick of Alex Smith. Yeah he's been screwed, but so have we by watching his play along with the rest of these failures. Championship QB? Don't make me laugh.

I've supported the guy more than most and feel the OC and HC disasters have effected him. But even I find it a slight bit funny that we are talking about 7 years Alex Smith. Not only talking about it. I think we are going to do it...

Alex IS our best option this upcoming year, but part of me just wants us to start a rookie, tank, and then draft Luck next year so we don't have any stupid QB discussions for the next 16 years

I honestly think he is the best option. And I really feel he can do better under Harbaugh.

But that that's the reason he keeps coming up. For some reason every new coach or OC seems to see something in him and wants to bring him back. Us fans have been along for the whole ride and thus have a terrible stomach ache.

Now Smith does have glimpses to justify this "potential" everyone talks about but is just to inconsistent for me. At this point I have just decided to support what ever QB this staff chooses. I will save my dissatisfaction or my happiness for when the the season is under way.

Many will say that's to late but what choice do I have.

Yep... I think year 7 is when the light is gonna come on.
It sounds like Tollner has more respect for Smith than the 49ers coaches during his time here. But CHAMPIONSHIP?
I like Alex, and I feel like ownership/management/coaching staff gave him the s##t end of the stick 90% of the time, but CHAMPIONSHIP would be to compare him to; Rodgers, Brees, Roethlisberger, Manning, and Brady. He isn't even in the Ryan, Flacco, Freeman conversation.
There was a time when I thought Alex would say yes when I learned that H. tried to entice him to sign on for another year, especially in light of Alex's opportunity to work under a real QB-oriented HC, and with a good OC in Greg Roman.

But when I learned that Alex refused to accept the 49er offer, and let his contract expire at the same time as the CBA expired, I concluded that Alex REALLY did not want to return. He almost had a guaranteed opportunity to start here this coming year, while his opportunities elsewhere might not be so certain.

It could be the fans - that he is no longer willing to try to win games for unappreciative fans. It even occured to me that it may have to do with some of the players. Maybe he can't stand Crabtree, or has little confidence in Rachel. Maybe some of the players haved dissed him, and he doesn't want to have to deal with them again.

I just do not know, but I don't think he is coming back, for whatever reason.

The idea that Alex has an almost guaranteed starting spot is laughable. Harbaugh says we will have a quarterback competition. Alex always looks worse than the below average competition, and never wins the competition. Look at the history. He lost 3 competitions to 3 below average or terrible QBs. What makes you think he is capable of winning the competition for this upcoming season?

You cant be serious with this. SMH. (and if there is any truth what so ever with the nonsense about the fans, Alex is a bigger p***y than most people already think)

Screw smith i could care less if he's the qb hopefully he stop gaps a rookie he owes us that! all i want is a fing passrush besides willis!!!
The reason we've lost isn't because of Alex Smith. It's because of conservative p***y defensive coaches. Neither Nolan nor Singletary had the balls to run a real offense! Both wanted to play defense and win by a FG! I want a coach who wants to kill every opponent and win by 21!! Like Steve Young said last year, the problem with the 49ers is Singletarys insistence in having a hand in the offense. If he woul of let his coaches coach and call their game, we would of been in the playoffs.

That's the reason all those OCs turned down the job. Because they knew Singletary wasn't going to allow creativity or play calling freedom

I'm going to say this only once. You WILL be warned if this behavior continues.
