Mankins should be Niners top FA priority

He is a definite upgrade over Chilo Rachal. We can play him next to Davis and help his development. He is a nasty OG and would bring in an winning attitude. I don't think the Pats will re-sign him so I think we should go hard after him. I just wanna know what the forum thinks about him

only downfall I see is that he has played LG his entire career, cant imgagine why he wouldnt mind switching to the other side. Dude is a stud and we would have drafted him in 2005 had he not been taken right before our pick and left us with baas

nnamdi, not just because shut down cbs are more valuable but it lets us use our 7th pick for a player like aj green if he falls or trade down and acquire more picks

should've had mankins at pick 33 in 2005, until the pats took him at 32 and we got stuck with baas

Mankins is a BEAST don't get me wrong. But no he def shouldn't be a FA target of the 9ers for many reasons.

1-he's a LG so is Iupati
2-we need to spend $ on QB, CB, edge pass rusher not OG
3-Mankins will be a very expensive FA

He could change to RG though, I'm pretty sure it's happened with guys before. Not to mention Nnamdi will cost more. I would definitely sign Mankins because we'd have an elite OL and with that OL we could protect our QB real well, and also run all over people with our running backs. That'd make it easier for a young QB or a vet who might be injury prone.

He could play RG, but he's probably gonna be looking for Jahri Evans type money (7 years/$57 million/$12 million signing bonus) as one of the best OG's in the league. The market might be a little different after the new CBA, but he's still gonna be pricey.

That said, I'd love to see it happen somehow.

he will be very sought after, I doubt we make a serious push.......but that doesn't mean I don't think we should.

why would we pay a dude about 8-10 mill per year to come here and switch positions when we just drafted a very talented player at g last year. we should try looking for the answer at guard either later in the draft or through a free agent who is a rg by nature.

Why not just switch Iupati to make the Right side the run side and the left side the passing side.

Mankins would protect the blind side alot better and Iupati is more of a running guard.
