Nnamdi Asomugha will become a FA

Jets would be making a huge mistake. Too much money to invest in one position. May not bite them in the @ss this year but it will get them eventually. They literally have no pass rush as it is.

Asomugha is an upgrade over Cromartie but it's not like Cromartie's chopped liver. Couldn't get the job done then, won't be able to do it now. Peyton, Brady, Big Ben or whoever will still have too much time to evenutally knock them out.

I don't think it would be a mistake at all. They play the Pats every year they likely value DBs more so than most other teams.

That's the problem though. The best quarterbacks in the league can find a weakness and exploit that weakness. Whether it's Indy and the combination of Dallas and a slot, Big Ben and his ability to extend plays. 2 corners no matter how good they are aren't going to beat you by themselves. This signing will come at the expense of other criticial positions. The Jets pass rush is worse than ours. If they're not blitzing they're getting to you. Good luck upgrading the pass rush now too.

The Jets pass rush may be statistically worse but they (the jets) are a much better defense. Nnamdi will only make the Jets D better than it was last year, which was good enough to carry them to the AFC championship. Not saying he wouldn't improve our defense more, but the Jets having both of the two premier lockdown corners in the league would definitely set their defense apart.

I don't know how much better he makes them. Cromartie is not chopped liver. He's a d*mn good corner. They were a AFC championship team without a strong 2nd cornerback too, the problem is until they address other weaknesses I don't know if they'll get over the hump. You live by the blitz, you die by the blitz.

He makes them, or any team for that matter, a lot better. Cromartie is a good starter but he is no where even close to the player that Nnamdi is. Adding arguably the best man coverage DB in the game addresses your pass rush, plus there are no elite pass rushers out there to sign.

I'm curious to see just how much money the Jets will backload.

Nnamdi is a smart guy, I don't think he falls for the back loaded numbers game. I'm not so sure that he goes to the Jets, other teams will offer him a better more front loaded contract.

A number of writers have suggested he loves the idea of playing in NYC. Along with the biggest media stage in the nation, he would also have a chance to pursue an acting career that he fancies.

We all know he won't come cheap and he will want to have a shot at a team that will make it to the playoffs. As much as he would improve the 49ers, even with him on the team they would not be as good as the Jets.

I would love to have him here but I am not holding my breath. The Jets have the money, the stage and the best chance for another deep playoff run. I hope I get a surprise, but...
I want him to be ours
Sign him

Come on Jed!

We do have advantages though too. He doesn't have to move, stays in a place where he loves. Better contract. When you say the Jets have the money you have to realize their deal is going to have to be more back loaded than ours.

BTW He signs here, we're a top 10 defense and steam rolling the division. If I'm Harbaugh I'm making sure Asomugha sees the 7-9 Seattle Seahawks knocking off the defending champs, I'm making sure he sees the 9-7 Arizona Cardinals getting to the Bowl. Come here and we're in alot better position to make a run then you might think.
