Kyle Orton

i thought the same thing when Tebow started and didnt look terrible or lost on the field. it'd be a good thing for the niners to have an Orton caliber QB for a season or two and groom up a franchise QB (if the Broncos are even willling to let him go)

After all he is only a year older than A. Smith and much better. 20 TD's to only 9 INT's and 3600 yards in 13 games this year.

I could see that in a niner uniform

Kyle Orton doesn’t agree with getting benched for Tebow

The Broncos initially said Tim Tebow would start against the Texans because Kyle Orton wasn’t healthy enough to play. It was a nifty way to bench Orton without having to say so publicly.

Orton sees the writing on the wall and isn’t happy with the decision.

“I’d love to play it out,” Orton told Jeff Legwold. “It wasn’t my decision. There was nothing I could do. . . . The way it was presented to me was he’ll be the starter the rest of the season and that’s just how it goes.”
I wouldnt mind bringing in Kyle Orton short term he is alot better then what we have now
A couple years with Orton and a new OC, new offensive-minded HC? Down. SO down. Get nice pass-rushing DE/OLB and secondary help in the 1st/2nd and develop a young QB from the 3rd.

BUT THAT WOULD MAKE TOO MUCH SENSE
Orton is legit. Hes not very athletic but he has great accuracy and is great in the spread

WOW!!! haha your so funny, full of jokes man... Really, he's got a lot to do before those words ever come out my mouth. Slow release, his arm will drop when he's tired, and he will be late on his throws and int is going to be the end result...
He'd get killed behind our offensive line.

Hes had two really good years back to back with Denver. Bringing him in and putting him in a spread offense would completely improve our QB situation that we have now.

Still, I'd want to draft a QB early, maybe in the 2nd. Orton is in no way a franchise QB, but will be more than good enough to start for 2-3 years while the rookie learns.
unless Orton comes with McDaniels as OC i pass

I don't know what next season will bring for the Bronco's with a new head coach and all and if he is going to want to keep Orton but it seems the Tebow experiment has begun. If Orton is available, would you guys consider wanting him? He's still pretty young and has some pretty solid career stats thus far. I actually wouldn't mind having him here for a season ot two while we hopefully groom a new young franchise quarterback. Thoughts?

It's better than taking Kevin Kolb. I'm ok with this move in the short term depending on who our HC/OC is.

why is it better than Kolb? Kolb is a vet in the WCO with zero mileage that has watched McNabb and Vick run the O well the last few years. He's going to be a good starter somewhere why not here?
I am so down to trade for Kyle Orton and hire Josh McDaniels as Offensive Coordinator.

But Orton would suck with a defensive minded head coach, he'd be what he was with the Bears.

I believe he could be a solid starting quarterback if we get a Head Coach (Harbaugh, Gruden?) or Offensive Coordinator (McDaniels) that knows how to use him.

i wouldnt trade for him...but with a good OC (like mcdaniels), i wouldt refuse him at all.
Orton makes so much sense for this team. The Niners aren't going to get Luck in the draft unless they do a Ricky Williams like trade up to get the #1 pick. But even if they did get Luck, this team is going to be starting over next year. Watching top pick rookie QB's get killed is not the way to revitalize this franchise.

Bring in Orton to start, hopefully draft Peterson or Prince A. in the first to upgrade the CB, and take a QB in the 2nd or 3rd that can be groomed to take over the QB spot within 1-3 years.

.

Orton was 21-12 with the Bears. 9-6 in 08 with 18tds to 12 ints. He was already an above average QB, its just that his numbers are inflated in DEN because McDaniels has no idea how to put together a running game. You want McDaniels to run the offense? A guy who couldnt figure out how to use Tony Scheffler or Peyton Hillis or Eddie Royal? I guess if you just want your QB to pad his stats in garbage time playing from behind for 3/4s of the game, hes your man.

we should question whether mcdaniels is only a crappy HC but a good OC or both...
