Even though Donovan McNabb signed an extension with the Redskins earlier in the season, there is a clause in the contract that the Redskins can cut ties with him by season's end without any financial obligations. Mike Shanahan has hinted that Grossman may get a shot to play by season's end, and there are grumblings in the locker room that McNabb is getting a little antsy about his situation there. Now I know Alex's fanboys will likely come out and claim that Alex is eons better than McNabb, and we're better off giving him a 6 year extension (thus making the 6 year plan into a 12 year one), but the reality is there is no quarterback on our roster that deserves to be a starter next season. Assuming that Sing is gone and Gruden takes over, it would be great to get McNabb in here. Remember, Gruden revived the careers of Rich Gannon and Brad Johnson in both Oakland and TB, respectively. He knows how to play to quarterbacks strengths. In both Gannon and Johnson, Gruden had to put up with QBs that boasted weak arms and lack of mobility. Yet, both excelled under his offensive tutelage. A McNabb/Gruden combo would keep us competitive in the NFC West for the next 2 aseasons (at least) until the "one" can be developed.

McNabb would be a perfect fit IMO.

crabtree and davis would produce career numbers and he'd be reunited with westbrook

He got run out of town in Philly and is about to get run out of town in Washington after getting benched for Rex Grossman.

He got run of town in Philly for getting close for almost 10 years and coming up short. The fans were tired of being teased. Kind of similar to our situation with Alex Smith where he teases certain fans into thinking he can actually be a starter in the NFL.

If McNabb were on this team, we'd be 8-6 and in the playoffs easily. I'm not suggesting him as a longterm starter, but to have him for 2 seasons while our QB of the future is being groomed, why not? If we can't get Harbaugh, I'd love for us to hire Marty Mornhinweg and that may help McNabb a great deal if he were in San Francisco, while Cam Newton is being groomed (assuming/hoping we don't make the playoffs).

I think some of you guys hit the nail on the head. Imagine if Zona picked up McNabb. You dont think the Fitz-McNabb combo would be something to worry about ? A QB can take a team a long ways.........Zona is a great example of this, and I think so is SF.

McNabb will be here ONLY to fill the void between now until the next draftee can develop.

The way some of you talk it seems like we're looking for a replacement for Joe Montana.

I don't want Alex or McRib at QB

I find it very strange that McRib is struggling so bad with Shanny as coach.

There's a reason guys like McNabb and Palmer are available. Because they are getting older and they're on the downside of their career.

These guys would not be much of an upgrade than what we have right now. The correct answer to the QB problem is through the draft. If these guys are available on the cheap for a 5th round pick, they'd be decent stop gaps I guess.

But I'd rather look into Kolb's availability.

No kidding...and it was against one of the worst defenses in the league (31st in points allowed).

McNabb is a huge upgrade from our smith and smith BS....Bring him in and draft a qb in the second round that can sit back for a couple years and learn from a pro...first round pick has to be DB or OLB/DE

have you seen him play this year? Clearly not an upgrade what so ever.
